lack of energy
I was wondering if the lack of energy is from lack of protien in my diet or lack of calories or effects of surgery .. anyone have a idea why I am soooooooooooooo tired .. ? I mean I cannot even do grocery store shopping w/o sitting down to rest .. Before surgery I was a active working as a emt .. hauling people in ambulance but right now I think I need to be the person they haul around .. I mean I was on so few calories protien drinks 2 weeks prior but I was not exhausted like i am now ... I am out of breath .. i need a nap everyday and i am not doing much to warrent a nap LOL
will my energy return?
Be well
Lisa
Lisa it's only been about 10 days since your surgery and what you're experiencing is pretty normal. They say it takes a while to get rid of the effects of the anistetics in your system. Do your breathing exercises and make sure you're getting enough liquids in each day. This will help get the anistetics out of your system and strengthen your lungs. Also, if you are still taking your pain meds well this tends to make you sleepy & tired. Everyone heals at a different pace. Take your time and take lots of naps if you need them. Don't push yourself too much. Just do what you can... but don't over do it. Soon you'll get your strength back!
Cheers,

I am just now getting over the severe lack of energy. It can be all of the things mentioned above. I personally think it has a lot to do with the lack of nutrition. I have not been able to get in enough liquids or protein. My heart is also not adjusting well so that makes me extra tired.
All I can say is rest as much as you feel like you need. Don't feel like you have to do anything. It can all wait. I've only left my house 2 times that were not medical related, once to a movie & once to a wedding (skipped the reception). I am too tired for anything else but it is slowly getting better. Fresh air helps, even just sitting on the deck.
