Need to vent

I havent posted on here in a while because I have been having the worst time. I dont want to discourage anyone, I just need to vent. I had my surgery on 4/2/07, lap rny, 4/3/07 discovered had a hemitoma (bruise) and had to have a blood transfusion and had to stay an extra day in the hospital. Went home 4/4/0, then on 4/9 started having severe pain and went to the local emergency room. I had my surgery 50 miles away and was in so much pain I did not want to travel that far. They discovered I had a leak and decided to preform surgery the next day to correct it. They were in touch with the surgeon who preformed my bypass and so i thought everything would be ok. Well on 4/10 they opened me from my belly button to my chest then discovered they didnt know what to do, so they left me open and put me in an ambulance to a hospital 90 miles away (where my original surgeon is based) So on 4/11 I had my final surgery to correct the leak and put me back together. I was in the hospital for 12 days(90 miles from my family). I had 3 drainage tubes and a feeding tube, they have removed the drainage tubes but i still have the feeding tube (just in case). I still have a lot of pain and am feeling as if I made a big mistake. I am still not able to eat. At this point I am just happy to stay hydrated and get my vitamins and protien down. I am sorry to go on and on, i just needed to get this off my chest. I have been home for a week now and still feel as if I have made a mistake. I knew there were risks, I researched for over a year, but i thought they wouldnt happen to me. I thought everything would go smoothly because I was prepared and knew what I was doing. I was wrong. I am just tired of being sick. I have been sick for almost a month and I just want to feel better. Thank you all for letting me vent. I hope Im not discraging to anyone. Many times over the last week I started to post and stopped because i didnt want to be a downer. Im sorry if this upsets anyone. I just really needed to let it out. Thanks, Michelle

WOW! Thanks for sharing that. Thats WLS from hell. I would seriously question all the physicians involved in this fiasco. It can only get better, hang in there. DD

Aww Michelle, I'm so sorry you've been through such a terrible ordeal with your surgery. Please don't ever hesitate to post your frustrations, struggles or whatever it is your dealing with... that's what we are all here for to support one another. I'm glad you posted and I wish we would have known of your difficulties sooner so we could have all been praying for you. I hope now that everything has been corrected you will begin to feel better and heal completely. Being in pain & sick for that long would definately make you second guess your decision. But hopefully now things will get better for you. I will definately keep you in my prayers that your body would get stronger & continue to heal properly and that you have no more problems. I'm so sorry you had so many problems. I would talk to a lawyer about those Dr's opening you up w/o knowing what they were doing. I also feel as though I made a huge mistake. You are not alone. Thankfully, my problems are not as severe as your and will hopefully get better with time but I feel your emotional pain & struggle. I have posted on my local board about my troubles in hope of letting others know that this doesn't work out as well for everyone. Please don't hesitate to post your problems. Well I am soo sorry that this happened to you...You are not being a downer you are telling your story...and people should understand that..which with this group I am sure they do... You have been through alot and I hope that in time things will look better for you.. I know about being sick and tired of being sick and tired...Well just know that we all are here for you no matter good or bad......

You must be totally exhausted and at the end of your rope. You've been through sooooo much - totally wls from hell. On the bright side - IT'S DONE!!! Now you can begin your new journey, hopefully with far less complication. No mistakes - THIS is what YOU wanted to do. For whatever reason - this is now your path, and you are going to do awesome. I'm sorry so much has gone wrong, but thank you for sharing your story. I can't wait to see more posts from you filled with awesome progress, you CAN do this. You WILL do this (and successfully)

than you Michelle for posting!! I am sorry you had a bad experience and I am praying it will be all up hill from here on! I had surgery the 2nd also. I too have cried to my husband asking why did I do this to me. Mine was from being allergic to the darvocet and the benzene and itching so bad all I could do was cry! I thought i was allergic to the surgery and I was going to be in itchy hell for ever!! I also could not take any pain meds after 6 days because I was allergic. I still hurt and can't bend over. We are all here for one thing and that is support!!! Not just support for the good but support for the bad as well! If you need anything let me know!! Dee
