I am 11 days post op and doing well on the diet/food side. The first week I was a wreck mentally and emotionally but that has gotten better..... Yesterday was a bad day physcially though. For the last couple days I had felt like I couldn't get a good breath, but I had a lot of gas around my ribs and didn't think much of it. At around 3:15 p.m. yesterday, I started getting chills so bad. I was freezing cold and could not get warm. 3 blankets, a heating pad and 2 hrs later I was still shivering and couldn't talk I was so cold. My mom called the nurse. She said that it was normal to be cold but then I got a fever. At this point I didn't know if the fever was from the blankets and heating pad or what. When I first starting shivering I took my temp. and it was 98.0. 2 hrs. later it was 102.5. I called back and she said that she thinks my lung is deflated again. That happened at the hospital after surgery. She had my mom check my pulse and it was 120. Finally my temp. came down to 99 and I got warmed up... but I was so weak. And still am. I feel awful. I have a headache and am so weak. I have to do the breathing thing 10 times, every hr. plus 2 big breaths after. Anyone else go through this? Right now I feel like I've been hit by a train and I was feeling really good before. Ugh. This is worth it, right?

Oh wow. I am sorry you are having so much trouble. This must be awful, but it will be over soon. I know it seems like so many obstacles in such a short time, but you are doing so much better than just 12 days ago!!!! ;) Breathe, Relax, drink your water and watch some MTV. You'll be hot enough to dance in a video very soon. And you'll be super healthy, and ALL of this will have been worth it!! Keep your head up and your goals in mind. You WILL do this. You've got a lot of people here that are here for you!

i have had such a slow recovery fever post op elevated pulse etc i thought i was gonna die .. but i ended up with a bladder infection and they gave me another short of tordal and the dperession was really bad ... but u know we went threw major surgery and our body is making a metabolic shift from fat storing machine to fat burning machine .... I am very weak but i am feeling better .. really good today but my energy is gone still As far as the breating i know what u mean I have a diffacult time since they fixed my hiatial hernia and go threw my diaphram and that was hard to breathe and still do .. Take it easy ... and u will feel better .. trust your inner voice .. if in doubt go to the docs or er .. but when u think about it we all have been threw alot and it is normal to have's and down days ... I keep the risk of blood clots in back of my mind because my hubby had a pulmonary embolism and his only symptom was he could not breathe all of a sudden .. so in doubt anytime get medical attention for peace of mind ... better to be safe then sorry. But i am told 30 days post surgery the risk of having a PE greatly reduces. Be well Lisa

Hi Amber yes it is worth it....you just don't know it yet the hardest part for me was the mental part. I had *head hunger* so bad i thought that I was going to die from it. In these early days things will change for you on a daily basis. and yes.... you will ask yourself "what in the h*ll did I do" it does get easier in time.....i'm 4 1/2 years out so i can be reflective

Thanks you guys! I am feeling much better. I guess rough days do come and go, and I'm thankful that it was nothing serious. Thanks for your support and posts. And Christina, thanks for popping in! ;) It's nice to hear from a ole pro.:D
