surgery April 24th- in Pain!!

OK- I had surgery less than 24 hours ago. I felt pretty good after I got home and took a nap. Now I'm having so much pain, I can't sleep. Everytime I dose off- I have muscle spasm type pain around the incision that I think is my port. Even to touch the area around it, cause a spasm. Pain med not helping. Any ideas?

my surgery was a week ago on april 18 and i had 2 places where my pain was bad one was my sternium where they fixed my hiatial hernia and second was the area the port was placed and i am unable to take narcotics w/o making me want to puke. prior to surgery the doc told me that where they attach the port to the muscle will be very painful and said try streching it and work it threw the pain little by little. i can actually feel my port threw my skin and when i sit i can feel the streching of muscle (makes me want to sit up straight.) i wish i could tell u a week post op pain is better but to be honest no yet but at least i am pass the tears streaming down my face from pain .. I had no idea the pain would be this bad.. I am now at the itching stage ... ugh but does mean i am healing ... Be well Lisa

Lisa- Sorry it took me so long to get back with you- I didn't even feel like turning on the computer. Today is my first day back at work and I feel pretty good- I get tired easily. The pain was something!! Most of it is gone now- just a little sore here and there. I gpt tp start on soft foods today since I'm now 2 weeks post op. Hope everything is going well for you.
