Stupid question here....
Hi Lisa,
I'm certainly not an MD however, I believe the tomatoes are no good because of the acid. If I had to guess,I would say it is not a clear liquid. try chicken and beef broth. Another great choice is crystal light drinks. Also you can try to get Syntrax protien drinks. These are considered bariatrix clears. They come in vanilla and chocolate flavors too. good luck to you.
Eric
You can also have sugar free popsicles. Those were a livesaver for me in the hospital. Because I couldn't stomach chicken or beef broth. Crystal Light lemonade is really good when you get those to go packets. I find if something is already pre-mixed its alittle to harsh for me. Good luck on your liquid diet.... before you know it you'll be on the losing side.
I was referring to what the nurse at St. Vincent's said about clear liquid diet before surgery. After surgery you are sent home on a full liquid diet and can have diet soda after it has gone flat.
Yes....each program is different and since the person asking the original question has the same surgeon as I did, I was answering her question as to what we were told in PAT.
Thanks everyone! I think I'll play it on the safe side and stay away from the V8 before surgery.... and have it for after when I come home from the hospital! I'm sipping beef broth right now, had a little lime jello before and I've been sipping lemon water & sf crystal lite! You all are such a big help, so glad I'm part of the A-Team!!!!!
Cheers,
Lisa S.
