Staples....and healing....

Here is a point I am confused on.... on the staple lines... the nurse said that our bodies/organs heal around the staple lines so that we have staples and healed skin so that it is really sealed up good. Here is my question though if anyone knows... are we still able to get leaks now? Or was the risk of that just at first and if you are leak free then you are leak free?

I got my answer... You can get a leak during the first month while the healing is taking place. That is why it is sooo important (as we all already know!) to follow doc. instructions!! P.S. I just want to say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE my surgeon's office and his staff!!!!

I am just curious. How would you know if you have a leak once you are home? Pain, I guess. Does anyone know for sure?

You would be very very sick. It is very rare though!

Amber it's so good to hear that you loved Dr. Ben-Meir and his staff because that's who I have for my doctor and I will be having my surgery this Wednesday! It's comforting to know I'll be in good hands and I will be well cared for by the staff. Good info on the leakage thing... I wasn't sure about that either so thanks for informing us all!
