Piece of cake...

Well, I'm back. It's over, and here's the gory details... as promised. I showed up to the hospital at 7AM, as scheduled. They got me signed in and suited up, and then wheeled me down to surgical prep on a stretcher. Dr. Kemmeter then came in and informed me he needed to preform an emergency procedure on another patient, and my surgery would be delayed 2- 3 hrs. It ended up being noon before I went into surgery. Laying there, FREEZING, with my mind running wild, was the worst part of the whole thing. Surgery, I'm told, was uneventful. I was in the OR about 2 hours. In recovery, they had to restrain me, because I kept trying to remove my tubes. I don't remember any of this. I was in recovery about 3 hours. They couldn't get my blood sugars or blood pressures down to acceptable levels. Again, I don't remember this. By 5PM I was in my room. They removed my catheter, and I took a walk around the Bariatric ward at 7PM. I didn't sleep much, at all. Between the poking and prodding, and general discomfort, sleep was elusive. Thursday morning. More shots. More blood work. More tests. A lot of paperwork and counseling with a social worker. I was pretty groggy all day. At noon, they asked if I wanted to go home, and at 2PM they cut me loose. I came home and went to bed at 5PM. I slept until about 2AM, then got up and typed this rambling account of my surgery. Piece of cake.... DD

Dave, Piece of cake? You wish!!!! Perhaps a 4-oz serving of clear broth instead. *laughing* Welcome home buddy. Glad to hear all went well. See, prayers do work. Just relax yourself because 24-30 hours after your surgery you will feel pain and sore. I am still a bit sore in the abdomen. Let us know haya doin and get some rest!! I am 4 days post op and 13 lbs down already. Just a word of advice. Go slow slow slow. sip sip sip. If you try to drink like we used to, you will get sick. Eric
