My sugery went very well. I was actually up and walking around 45 minutes after my surgery..lol. I do feel very gassy today, and have a small fear of going to the bathroom. I don't know why, I think it is just the fear of pressure. Anyone else experience this? How long did it take before having your first BM after surgery?

Hello Barbara and welcome home. I had a Lap Band on 4/16 and still have not had one. An unpleasant topic however reality. Feel better and get some rest. Eric

Barbara ... oh Barbara! Let me tell you a tale of BM's. lol. I had my banding done on the 10th. My first BM was yesterday, and let me tell you did I cry. I strongly suggest that you start taking a stool softner (Milk of Magnesia) everyday ... which is something I only just started (yesterday) I wish I had of started it right out of the hospital. I too was nervous about going to the bathroom. The gas that I had put into my stomach for surgery (laprascopic) was the most intense pain I have ever felt (other than my BM last night!) Anyway - for your sake start taking the stool softners right away!!!! Monique

I started having a lot of loose stools starting on Wed... I had surgery Monday. These lasted up until yesterday (Thurs.) Today is still loose this a.m. but not as bad as before. My nurse said the liquid from the barium swallow will give you diareah for a while. I am surprised you havent gone yet, but don't worry... it's coming!!!

I just love that we can all talk about such things openly! I've had a couple of surgeries in the past, and was always able to go fairly soon afterwards. I sure HOPE I don't have issues with it this time!!! ONE WEEK TO GO!
