I am a SAHM of three (5 1/2, 4 1/2, and 2 1/2) and will have help for about two weeks following my surgery. I am wondering if this will be long enough? I am having lap RNY and recovered from 3 c-sections really quickly, no pain meds....i am hoping that this will be similar? thanks!

My hubby went back to work on a new job 2 weeks later in fact he felt so good he could have gone back to work 1 week later but 6 days post op we lost our 12 month grand daughter to sids (she was living with us) and even with all emotional post opt he felt really good .. Tired was the worst complaint and that last 2 mos I recall but then again he was dropping weight sooooooooooooo fast .. pain was not so bad he said in fact didn't need morphine after the first few hours .. had one lady that had it the same day never used pain drugs .. she was amazing lol and they all looked so good when they all went home .. I have 7 children ages 8 to 25 so i am hoping i am on my feed in no time .. hubby ius taking a week off to help me be well Lisa

Hello Sheila and welcome to our little family I had my surgery on the 4th and I am doing great. I havent taken any pain meds since I was about 5 days post op. I care for my grandsons ages 3 and 7 months. I came home from the hospital on a friday and my mom and sister helped me mon, tues, wed and I have been doing it on my own since then. I cannot lift anymore than 20 pounds for 6 weeks so Im lucky that the baby weighs 17lbs.....lol I think you will do fine. I had 2 c-sections and I think they were worse than this surgery as far as pain goes. Good luck and Im here if you have any questions. Cindy

Welcome Sheila to the A-Team. Great group of people here for support! I had lapband surgery on the 10th and it is surprising how quick I am able to get back into my routine. I of course, have my limitations - but over all everything is good. I am sure that you will find the same. All my best to you in your up and coming surgery. Prayers are being said for you. God bless ... Monique

The only real concerh I see is if the 2 1/2 wants picked up, you might still have lifting restrictions after 2 weeks depending. Hopefully, going over to a chair or sofa & you can let them climb into your lap
