CPAP users...
So they said to bring the CPAP to the hospital for the surgery... Is there anyone out there who has had their surgery and is a CPAP user? Do they make you wear that darn thing the whole time you are sleeping at the hospital???? I get ZERO rest with mine. I absolutely hate the darn thing but have been forcing myself to use it. I'm afraid that I will already be in pain and irratable and dont' want to have to wear this mask for 2 days straight while in the hospital. The nurses on the PAT day said it would be on when we came out of surgery which is fine...but I'm praying after that it can come off and stay off....
Hi Amber,
I am a cpap user and they told me to bring mine to the hospital too.
I brought it and they took it to recovery in case I needed it when I was trying to wake up. Come to find out, they never used it in recovery and they didnt use it on me when I went to my room either. I was in the hospital wed-fri and I didnt wear it one time. Thank God because I hate that damn thing........lol
I have not worn it since I came home and as I am losing weight, my husband says he has notice that I have not been snoring!!
So, GOODBYE Mr. CPAP

I was also told to bring my cpap. I only used it at night for a few hours. As I was lying in bed at a 45 degree angle I doubt breathing could ever have been a problem. I asked the nurses it they heard me snoring and only once was I told yes. Since being home I have fallen asleep a number of times with my cpap, hubby has told me that either I don't snore at all or it is very low, I used to be heard in the basement! I have decided that after losing 50 lbs I will go for another sleep study to see if I can dump my cpap!

I had my surgery done Monday the 9th and I had to take mine to the hospital as well, When I went in someone had to come make sure that the electrical cords were fine.
When my nurse came over to me I told her I hate it and when I wear it I don't sleep as well. She said they would only put it on me if medically neccasary. I didn't have to wear it at all in the hospital. Sherry
Hi, I went to a meeting with my Dr. this week and he told to bring mine also. He said he would have to write orders for me to use but bring just in case. I have gotten where I don't wear mine either. I have a sinus problem and can't breath with it on. Hopefully you won't have to wear it. It probably differs for each Dr. God Bless, Tammy P.
I'm just the opposite, I can't sleep well without my CPAP. When I first got it I hated it! I would wake up several times cause the mask would move and it drove me crazy. But after a couple weeks I got used to it and even wear it if I'm taking a nap.
I am hoping I can get rid of it after my surgery though!!
Good luck to you!
Pam
