Has anyone else had the problem that after surgery all you can do is think of food? I had my lapband on Tuesday and although I know from the restriction I feel when drinking the fluids I could not tolerate it - I still dream of food. Fried chicken and mashed potatoes especially! Hate to watch television at all because of all of the food advertisements. Let me know what you did to get through this please.

Hello Carolyn. My friends mom had the band and told me the same thing. She said she dreamed of food food food. She said that passed after a few days. Good luck. I'm going in on Monday. Hope that doesn't happen to me. God Bless ya!!!!!!!

I had surgery on the 4th and yes when it REALLY hits you that right now you can't have anything but liquids it is hard and I cried many times, even last night..I am so sick of soup and protein shakes. But the scale is being so good right now...I am down 18lbs. as of yesterday..I weighed 303 back in Jan and before surgery I was 290 and now I am 272.....SO yes it is hard but it is not forever... You will so be able to have something better than full liquids but you are healing.....I know i am tired of hearing that also...ONLY Thing I can recomend is keep your mind busy......

Especially for the band this is normal. You have no restriction and the band is really not helping right now. But it is very important to stay on the diet so you can heal. Good luck, you can do it.

Thanks for all the help - I am faithfully sticking to the diet - as matter of fact I don't seem to be able to get enough fluids down - I have been keeping track of the amount of fluids I have taken in since coming home and I average between 45 and 55 ounces of fluids and about 40 grams of protein. It is nice to know I am not alone and we all go through this to begin with.

Hi, I have one more sleep study to do, then maybe I can get my PAT, then have my surgery. In the meantime, I am trying to create a list of recipes for shakes etc. Do you think this is too soon to start my liquid diet? I may have another 2 -3 weeks before I'm scheduled. I am already approved by my insurance company. I have two friends that had the surgery and they're both doing great. Thank you for responding, I'm still a little scared, but know I need the surgery.

My surgery was on the 6th...and I'm DEFINITLY going through the same stage. I really try hard to concentrate on the postives, the weight loss, and the health benefits that I'm going to acheive. But, a tuna salad crossaint (weird, I know) keeps showing up in the back of my mind. Seriously, I think I could kill for one right now. We WILL get through this Best of luck!

My surgery was the 12th. I am dreaming of eating real food. I have learned to use my husbands DVR thing on the cabkle to skip the food commercials. I am almost at my whits end with clear liquids. I thought i would do okay, But........ Hope things get better for us. Just htink of all the great things we have to look forward to, Becca

Okay have a had a rough few days but am on track and thank goodness did get off it. I have been a little shaky here lately and had a couple bouts with nausea but I think the main thing is I let my blood sugar get to low. Thank goodness no vomiting - now last night was my night for not sleeping good at all. In fact I could not sleep all night long! I finally went to sleep around 8 am this morning for a few hours. As far as the liquid diets being too soon for surgery - you should check with your doctor. My doctor had me do a protein shake for breakfast and lunch then a reasonable meal for dinner with a very high protein snack before bed. I would have 4 ounces of meat at night with two one-half cup servings of veggies and a half cup of cottage cheese or unsweetened applesauce. YOUR doctor will tell you how he wants to handle your individual case each time though. I did this diet for 4 weeks prior to my surgery. Carolyn
