New to this forum, b...
New to this forum, but have been posting in the Indiana forums for a while. Finally having the surgery after a moderately long approval process. Surgery is 4/25 at Memorial's Bariatric program in South Bend. Have all the testing done, except endoscopy (GI) on Friday, and am meeting with the dietician tomorrow to start the liquid diet.
Had my first "OMG" moment today - thought to myself that after surgery I'll only be able to drink this much (holding up a shot glass). Passed rather quickly as I realized it's far better than letting this disease get the best of me.
Good luck to all of you having surgery before mine - God Bless...
Welcome to the A-Team Jeff!!!! Looks like we share the same surgery date on the 25th! My doctor didn't order the liquid diet for me... but I'm going to put myself on one anyways just to be on the safe side. Certainly couldn't hurt to loose a few pounds before surgery! Good luck to you!!!
Cheers,
Lisa
Hi Jeffrey!!
Welcome aboard!! Congrats on your day, mine is the 26th, it's the first time I WANT to b a loser
I remember sitting at the nutritionist's seminar with about 20 other obese people and she holds up this tiny cup and says, "This will be the size of your new pouch." I've never heard 20 people gasp in unison before!!! Even though we all "understood" what was going to happen, it was still a momentary shock to see it!!
But it's the worth it all in the end to be healthy and active!!
Inky
Thanks for the support folks - started the liquids today (yikes). Going to have to come up with some more imaginitive soups than just "cream of this or that", but got my protien in for the day at least, and only 800 calories to boot.
Will keep you posted on the weight loss during the 2 week process - 320 lbs today, down 6# from two weeks ago! Hope to be around 300 lbs on surgery day, and with a very slender liver!
