I got home last night. I just can't seem to get rid of the gas. I am having a problem sleeping. I only sleep for an an hour at a time, any one know why? Sherry

Hi Sherry, Welcome home! I had problems with gas too when I came home. I tried the gas-x strips and they seemed to help. Also walk as much as you can. I hope that helps. Cindy

Welcome back Sherry. As far as the gas, on the mens board they say, " walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip, let 'em rip, rip, rip." I don't know first hand if that works, but it kinda sounds like fun! Good luck. Better days are ahead. DD

The nurses have all told me that the majority of the gas in our system after the surgeyr is due to the gases they use to inflate your chest during surgery in order to have enough room to maneuver the laparoscopy tools around. It just gets trapped and takes a lot of time (i know, seems like FOREVER) to disperse. I was told the same.....walk, walk, walk....which was hard for me but what ever little bit i did, did seem to help. i used gas-x chewable tablets and those seemed to help a bit too. if you have a recliner, try sleeping there.
