Ok, I don't want to be negative or scare anyone, but damn yesterday was rough. I've started with some serious diarrhea. I also just felt generally lousy. I couldn't eat or drink. I felt nauseous too. I ended up calling the doctor. He told me to drink as much as possible. He also put me on Flagyl? It seems to be helping I'm feeling much better today. I've also moved myself back to clear liquids. I was discharged to full liquids and I wonder if the milk was also part of my problem. I also tried to come off of the pain meds, that didn't work for me either. I'm back on those this morning. Thanks for listening. Kerry

Hi Kerry, No I have not had my surgery yet, but I just wanted to congratulate you on getting your surgery! I am sorry to hear that you are feeling lousy. It is totally normal to feel that way for a while after this surgery. No you have not scared me... LOL!! I know that I will probably feel the exact same way after getting my surgery. But I so look forward to getting the surgery and moving on to losing weight. I believe that Flagyl is a anti-nausea medication(just some info for you). You are right about the milk probably bothering you. You very well could be lactose intolerant right now, but it will correct itself. Keep your chin up and just take it easy and rest right now. I hope to hear that you are doing better soon and will see you on the losers bench soon! Clayton

Hi Kerry, I also had my surgery on the 2nd. Im sure it was the milk. Have you tried calorie countdown fat free? That is what im drinking and it tastes really good. I havent had any nausea since ive been home but the pain is alot worse then i thought it would be!! Im still on my pain meds too. Yesterday was a pretty hard day for me too. I hope you get to feeling better. Michelle

Flagyl is an antibiotic. Not sure how that would help with nausea? Maybe your doc thinks you have an infection? That could cause nausea. I get diarrhea with milk and other dairy products. I've not had my lap band surgery yet (4/20, woohoo!) but I wouldn't think a thing about continuing your pain meds. If you need them to function then take them. HEy, I had my surgery on the 2nd also and all is well. I just read up a little on flagyl and the web said that flagyl can cause some nausea also. Hopefully your Dr did tell you that this medication is used to treat protozoan type infections so maybe he thinks you may have gotten some staph infection from the hospital, anyway thats just my 2 cents. Be careful and make sure you at least try a juice protein drink. GOd Bless you and feel better-Tameka

RNY on 04/02/07 with
I had RNY on 4/2 also. Also having a problem with milk. Horrible gas pains afterward (sorry to be gross), but the gas pains can make you nauseous becuase of the reduced space we have now. I just switched to Lactaid brand FF milk which contains the enzyme that breaks down lactose. No more gas.
