Im sorry that you have to go it alone on Tuesday. I wish I could help you with what to expect, but I am having my surgery on wednesday. Do you have any family that can go? Just remember that the A-team is a family and we may not be there with you physically, but we will be with you in spirit. Good luck on tuesday. I hope to hear from you soon Cindy

So sorry that you will be alone on your surgery day.....I don't have mine until the 19th of April but I will definately be praying and thinking of you. I am also interested in hearing what others have to say about what to expect and the best way to prepare for the big day. Good luck, Take care and know that there are many who are praying for you. Hi there! Thanks for responding ... well ... I've never undergone surgery before and the things I'd like to know are : 1. Do all the patients have their own room or is it a shared room with 1, 2 or more other patients? 2. I'm a TV buff who would definitely like to watch a couple of shows to get my mind off the surgery after effects (like when the anesthesia wears off) so ... would there be a television in the room where we recover? :-S 3. Can we shower once we are in the recovery room? I definitely would like to feel clean and comfortable afterwards. 4. I know we can't eat or drink after the surgery and we are only allowed ice chips. Are the ice chips provided by the rotating nurses or do we get them ourselves in the hallway or wherever? So far, they are the few major questions I'd like to know. Has anyone enlightened you on these? if so ... could you please let me know too. Thank you soooooo very much for taking the time to answer me. By the way, good luck to your surgery too ... you're only a day after I have mine on the 3rd.

Well first the room situation....It depends on where you are going and your insurance and how busy the hospital is that you are going to. TV you will be in recovery for a short period but you will really not be awake enough to watch anything. You probably will not be able to shower after sugery.. I know I had my gallbladder out last year and it was out patient and I could not shower for like 24 hours after surgery.. Ice chips well I would image that a nurse or someone brings them to you.. But also I guess it depends on where you are at.....You will have a tv in your room though.. I remember when I got to my room after my gallbladder it took maybe a hour before I could really stay with anything anyone was saying to me..... Feel free to ask as many questions as you would like........
