Let's help each other out!
Hi everyone,
Has anyone started to get all the vitamins and protein that we need after WLS?
I got my centrum chewables, but haven't gotten calcuim citrate, iron or vitamin C are there any others that have been recommended to you?
I just got samples from unjury for their unfavored and the new chicken broth, I don't think I will be able to do shakes..I don't like milk shakes now with real ice-cream so I doubt I'll be able to handle fake ones. So I hope I can use the unfavored in suger free pudding, jello, eggs , bean, etc. and the chicken broth one as chicken broth so we'll see.
I also bought a icey maker, I love slushie ice, with no flavor or crystal light, I figure that will be good after surgery when the need to chew arises.
I still want to get a grinder and fax seed.
What are some of the things everyone else is doing to prepare? I know there is probably more that would be helpful, so I figured we could help each other out.
lol Jen
Welcome to OH,
There is a wealth of information here, and some of the nicest people you'll every "meet". I've found everyone to be very helpful. I also posted this on the March surgery board because I figured they might be a little a head of us that are having surgery in April. There are some good answers there so far.
Best of Luck on you journey,
Jen
Hello My sugery date is April 4th. I wanted to share with you a sluchie ice. You get some of the Sytrax Nectar or any flavor protein that is like crystal light and you can mix that in a little bit of water then pour over your ice.. Other people have told me that there tastes buds change.. But sounds like you are very prepared....Good luck and I hope to talk to you soon...
Hey Jen,
Well I am on the table April 10/07 ... you know I still can't believe it when I say or type it! Holy cow. One thing that was recommended to me beside the calcuim citrate are the Women's 1 a day vitamins. At my 2 week check when they do blood work if I am low in any vitamins etc ... we will suppliment further then. My only thing was how big the 1 a days are ... my dietian told me to crush them up ... but to make sure that I was taking them.
Other things that I have started to are ...
*Made a check list!
*Am working on a self help book for adult survivors of childhood abuse - the source I believe for my emotional eating and need to hide behind the fat.
*Dug out my recipe book for making homemade Babyfood
*Started purchasing sugarfee applesauce
*Bought fat free pudding
*fat free yogurt
*baby food such as the: fruits, desserts and some veggies
*started making out my 2 week liquid diet making sure that I get at least 60 grams of protien per day ... I am a little OCD.
*started making meals and freezing them for my husband and kids so that when he gets home he still has a hot meal. I figured that because I am a picker when I cook, this would be the best way to avoid any and all of the picking.
Yet with all this preperation ... I still feel less than prepared! Know what I mean?

yeah i think it is a great wonderful idea to share our stuff with each other. I know i have gotten lots of good tips and encouragement reading things in here.
for now i am taking Centrum Silver once a day ( sometimes i forget) and i also take chewable Vitamin C, and everyonce in a while i do the catracal calcium citrate.
but do i need to go ahead and get the chewable flintstones, for after the surgery?
i also started my protein diet today and already broke a rule... shame on me...i am not doing to good in the diet department but right now i am drinking water. and for lunch i will have one of those shakes...i think it is akins.
but i also have some whey protein powder drink mix i got at the heath food store and mixed it with water and it tasted like mmm very bad... but i forced it down. then i read in here that you can use 2% or fat free milk and it helps the taste. I was wondering if i could add a pack of sweetner, like splendra?
special prays to all of us that have surgery in April... actually April is my favorite month.
