Topic: A couple of WOWs
It's been a long time since I've had a wow moment, I had a couple this week. Friday I had two appointments. One to have my eyes checked for new glasses. When I got to the optical shop and was trying on the glasses, I had two that I really couldn't decide on. I put one on and it blended into my face, the second didn't. The tech said that she liked the second pair better, they didn't blend in. She liked them bette:r because my face was so long andtt narrow. Never have I been told that my face was long and certainly never narrow. I looked and it was true. The second was with my internist. I was a little nervous because my weight loss has really slowed down and it seems like I been this same weight (183/84) since February or March. Much to my surprise I had lost 9 lbs since my last visit in April. Now never much of one to offer compliments, the doc came in and said "Well, you know I always have to talk about the surgery. I have another patient who had the surgery almost 2 years ago and has lost only 9 lbs." Now what was that supposed to mean. He said some people it works for and some it doesn't. "She likes bread too much." he said. Now the not so wow moment. I went out to dinner with some of my Toastmaster friends last night. After dinner we were sitting around the table discussing plans for the Friday night fun night at our Fall conference. They decided to do a "Gong" type show. Well, right about that time my stomach started it's rumbling and grumbling. Everyone asked whose stomach that was. I admitted it was mine. They thought it would be great if I could do it on demand with a mike infront of it for one of the inbetween acts on the "Gong" show. Good thing I can't do it on demand.

Jennifer, Look how far you have come.... Are you feeling better? Do you still have to take meds? How's your sleep apnea? Can you move better then before? Is this a lifetime committment.... yes! Take the tool that you were given, and use it. Be honest with yourself about what you eat and how much. You have the rest of your life to lose the extra weight, it will take time and effort. Don't compare yourself to anyone else who has had the surgery, we are all different. Enlist your Dr's help, talk to your NUT, make this tool work for you. Don't dwell on the amount it cost you or the weight you have left to lose.... take this one day at a time and you will get to where you want to be or at least a lot closer. Trust in yourself and your God, you can do this! Darla

Bill, Congratulations! You've done great. You had surgery the week after my wife and a week before me. I just noticed that you are from Muskegon. My wife is from there and we got married there back in 1975. Floyd

Bill, It's so nice to see your smiling face again. Congratulations on the success you've had. Your surgery was the day after mine and so far I've lost about 100 lbs and have been stuck since January. On the plus side I'm off from 2 cholesterol drugs, two diabetic drugs, and high blood pressure meds. I haven't had need to use my cane for months and can walk everywhere. Jeanne

Bill, YOu look great too. I am glad that you feel so good. It is wonderful how losing that much weight makes us feel so good. I have lost 140 still have 40 more to go, but the old body has decided that it doesnt want me to lose anymore yet anyway, lol. I am glad for you keep up the good work. Kathleen

Hi Julia, glad to hear you are doing well. Isn't it great when people who haven't seen you in a while have such a reaction? I saw an old friend today and she was amazed at the changes I have made. The last time she ever saw me this size was probably 1971! Hang in there, you are not along in the quest to reach goal. We can do it! take care Sher

I'm doing great I'm at 197. I'd like to lose some more because so many people put on 20 lbs after 2 years that I'd like a cushion so I'm not bigger than I am now if that happens. I'm perfectly happy where I am now though Lizzie

Hey Wendy, I fight low blood pressure too. I try to keep sipping at ice water or propel and I eat sugar free popcicles . When you're dehydrated your blood pressure will drop so it's important for us to stay hydrated. My Dr. also told me to eat some more salt and that would help my blood pressure (makes sense since you can't eat salt with high blood pressure). I started at 333 lbs and I'm currently at 197. I'm only 5'6". I know what you mean about wanting it to start with a one though. I was so excited to finally get there. I would make sure you drink three protein drinks a day as snacks, avoid white carbs, eat whole grain carbs only at one meal a day and concentrate on protein and veggies the other two meals. Every time the scale stops moving I get anal about doing everything like that and it starts moving again. Good luck! Lizzie

Hello Julia I'm glad to hear you are doing so well. I'm doing great, just have limited computer access right now. My laptop is on the fritz and the desktop computer is shared with my 16 yr old. Plus with being summer I'm just not indoors as much. I'm doing great. I'm down to 197 - SO SO SO glad to be into the ones! I hope everyone else is doing well! Lizzie
