Topic: RE: xpost - Gall Bladder
I had my gallbladder out a long time ago (15 years ago). I had it done lap so I didn't have a big incision and felt pretty good after. I stayed overnight in the hospital. I was a stay at home Mom at the time so I didn't miss any work. I think I had some help for the first couple of days at home then was taking care of the house, a 4 yr old and a 1 yr old all day long by myself (Hubby worked a lot of crazy hours back then and wasn't home much).
Other than not picking the kids up I did everything.

Ruth Ann, I did not want it to be my gallbladder but then I wasn't sure what else it would be, so at least I knew what it was and could have it taken care of. I wasn't in a lot of "pain" just annoying aching. I guess if you wait around until a stone gets stuck somewhere the pain is much worse and the surgery can be more difficult too. Julia

Ruth Ann, I think I misunderstood your question. I thought you were asking about pain after the surgery. My pain before surgery was just as you described, dull ache that would not go away. Julia

Jenn,
Good to hear from you. Congratulations on the baby!
Have fun on your cruise to Ensenada. We're going on the WLS cruise to the Bahama's in January and very excited.

Ruth Ann, I had my gallbladder out 2 years before my WLS. It was done laprascopically and I stayed overnight. The pain I had was low on the left side of my abdomen but not anywhere near where the surgery was done, the surgeon said. Felt like a large needle stabbing me. I think it was where one of the scopes sat on my stomach and was pushed on while taking out the GB higher up. Who knows---it went away. I don't think that was normal. Anyway, I had no other problems and was off 2 weeks. I probably could have gone back to work sooner but really wanted the time off. Julia
Topic: Where is Dr. Floyd?
I had the lap band surgery in April 2006 and had one adjustment several months after the surgery due to a deep wound staph infection. I scheduled a second adjustment three times but Dr. Floyd's office kept cancelling then I received a letter stating that he was no longer doing that kind of surgery due to the high cost of malpractice insurance. I paid for the surgery up front - $15,000 borrowed from a health care loan company - because my insurance company refuses to pay for anything weight related. I am paying $396.57 a month for an unsuccessful lap band surgery - I lost only 30 pounds - and will be paying for the next 10 years on it! Where is Dr. Floyd? I called his office and they referred me to two bariatric surgeons who are demanding $1000-$3000 fee up front to take me on as a patient!!!! I am now having problems with my lap band - my stomach hurts, very sore. It flipped the second month and now I don't konw what to do. Nobody wants to take me on because of the potential liability situation even though Dr. Floyd is still liable since he performed the surgery. Dr. Floyd, where are you? Do I need to consult a lawyer and sue to get my loan taken care of plus whatever medical expenses I will incur as a result of this lap band??? Any suggestions, anyone? Email me [email protected]
