HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOAN! Who says getting older we can't get better!!!!! I will be 56 in July and I too feel so blessed to have regained a healthier body and more energy than I have had in many, many years. I will keep my fingers crossed for your panni approval. I am waiting to hear about that for myself. Wishing you all the best. Sher

I don't have a date yet. My PS's office has submitted to try and get approval for the removal of the pannis (hanging stomach) part. After we find out about that a date will be set. My surgeon is a busy one and it probably would be about a three months wait. That's ok, since I am recovering from a total knee replacement I had just before Christmas. ALso gives me a little more time to save more money. As for liking what we see in the mirror now. I can so relate to that. To see the final results has to be just fantastic. I am excited to see mine. What kind of compression garments have you had to wear and did your surgeon provide them or did you get your own? Sher

Thanks Sue my twin! Wow, I went to your profile to check out you surgery pics and you need to change the avatar...I would not have known you. Wow, I would love my arms done..I think they bother me more than anything. I am trying to get approved for panni but have not heard yet. I will leave it up to the Lord for approval. You look wonderful!

Jen how wonderful for you!!! Wow, I can only imagine how you must feel and look. I am using shoulder pads in my bra to help cover what is missing. So sad.... Praying for you to heal quickly and the swelling to go down. I agree about the this group here being so important to us and may we never forget that.

Hi Sher, Thank you. I am still recovering, still swollen especially my arms, but I am beyond thrilled that I had my surgery done. The bad thing is that I will be going broke buying underwear. This is the first time in a very long time (that I can remember) that I can buy panties and there is no bulging over the top or in the leg. I love how I look. It was a lot to have my arms done with a LBL, but to get it over and done with, even knowing then what I know now, I would do it exactly the same. In the next couple of years, I would definitely like to get my boobs, thighs and neck done, too. I don't think it's vain so much as just liking what the results are now. I spent so much time avoiding the mirror, I am just making up for lost time. Do you have a date set for your surgery and did you get the stomach covered? Sue

Good morning everyone! Today is a reflective one for me...I am 58 today. Never would I have believed being 58 would be so awesome! But since WLS I am truly alive and feeling great! Went to lunch after church yesterday with a couple from church that are blind and the most fun loving friends we have. Went to Red Lobster and laughed and talked and didn't need dessert to know we celebrated. Isn't that freeing? I wanted to wear a size 8 slinky form fitting dress but didn't have the right shoes. My feet are smaller and needed a shoe with heal which I do not have any. So I had to settle for a pair of size 6 capris and small top....so sad.... NOT! I am still in awe when I put on clothes that are that small and they not only fit but are loose. Again, never in my wildest dream. So being 58 is not depressing but liberating! I am alive praise the Lord, I feel good, I feel more confident and yes I even feel pretty...forgive my pride Lord but I do. Hope your day is blessed wherever you are in your WL journey! Waiting? Hang in there! Scale going down...congratulations...maintaining? It's tough huh? I know.... Below goal and struggling? Don't fret just do small meals several times a day. But enjoy this miracle and be blessed. I know I am....

Hi Sue, just checked out your new photos. You are looking just great, you must feel that way too. How was your recovery? I am getting a hernia repair, abdominoplasty and breast lift in several months. I would like my arms and possibly thighs done later. I am older than you and I know my face has lost alot of it's tighteness too. I don't know what my DH would say to that.He says I am getting very vain and is happy with the way I am now but I told him it was for me, so I can feel good about myself. Take care Sher

Hi all, I just added some pictures that were taken this week. One is of my arm scars and one is of me in my compression garments, but all the rest are just what I look like after my LBL. Now I just need surgery on my face, which won't happen for awhile. Well, boobs and thighs, too. Sue

Hi, Julia I did ok after the surgery. The day after I felt as tho I'd been run over and it was really not fun at all. It probably took me a few days to get over the anesthesia, but I can't say that there was anything specific that bothered me about it. It was more the drains and general discomfort that bothered me. Even now after a month, I have pain but not from the LBL. My arms tend to bother me more, the scar is tender and my lower arms hurt. According to my surgeon, it's because the arms tend to hang down during the day so by the end of the day, it causes pain in the forearms. I think it's just going to take time, but I am still very happy that I did all the surgery together and got it over with. Take care, Sue
