Topic: RE: 2 years out
Hello Julia and everyone else.
Starting weight:290 I kow at one point I was 300 but only put 290
Day of surgery:290
Current weight: 130
I wear mainly size 4/6 and 6's are baggy. I do have a couple size 8 petite slinky 3/4 sleeve dresses I love (I am a little over 5 feet tall)
I love my new life and am so happy I did this for me.
So proud of each of you here and feel like you are my best friends because you were with me from the very begin ning and here you are now 2 years later and looking "fine"...For those who are still trying to make goal..do not fret...this isn't a race to see who crosses the finish first. This is about getting healthy and eating right and folowing the pouch rules so we can work this tool we have been give. This is for a lifetime....we can do this!
No plastics for me so far although I would love panni and arms and breast but the arms are my least favorite because I would love to wear something besides 3/4 sleeves in SC.
Legs are a mess but I heard that is very painful surgery and at my age (58) who cares!
Keep posting friends...I am also on the OFF (over fifties forum).
In His love and never ending grace,
Joan M

Hey Gus!!!! Wow, fantastic story. Gives me hope for a 31 yr old son of parent at school where I work. He is over 500lbs and I talked to his Mom about my surgery, she didn't know I had weighed 290. Told her to contact surgeon's office and take him to seminar and then pray for wisdom and her son to desire to change his life because it is possible and today here you are living testimony of the success of this surgery!
I am down 160 lbs and feeling more alive than ever in my life. And I am 58.
Glad you posted I hope everyoone from this board posts this month!!!

Topic: RE: Hi everyone, you all...
Renee, congratulations on your weight loss! You have been in a stall ( plateau) that has lasted 5 months, but you had a 115lb loss in the first 12 months. My suggestion to you would be to start a food journal if you are not already doing so. I use an online free site called spark people.com . It will show you if you are eating correctly, getting in enough or too much. After you track for a while it should help you see where you could make some changes to start that weight loss moving again. It will be slow now, but can be done. Remember protien first, strive for 80-100 grams per day. Then vegatables, fruit and whole grain foods. Stay away form processed foods, starches and sugars. Make sure you are getting in enough water/sugar free beverages, if you are drinking with meals, go back to the beginning. Stop drinking 30 minutes before eating and wait at least 30 minutes after to keep your pouch full longer. If you are not exercising try to begin now, find something you can do on a regualr basis. The honeymoon period is probably over for you but that doesn't mean you can't continue losing more weight, it will just take a little more effort.
If you want to share your progress why don't you check out the weightloss graduates board. You will get a lot of support and advice to help you along at this stage of your journey. There are quite a few of us struggling with losing and maintaining and post on the accountability thread on that board, check it out.
All the best
Sher

Hi everyone, you all have done great, I actually had WLS on 10/31/06, I started out at 310 currently at 195 still want to loose another 40lbs . But I have a question for you guys who are a little further out than me.
I have hit a plateau, that has lasted for 5 months. (am I done)? Has this happened to either of you?. And if so how long did it last.

Starting weight---414
Current weight---283
Goal weight---250
Should be---175
However, I have seen myself at 175 and it is not a pretty sight. LOL So, hopefully I don't ever get that low.
