Hey Jeanne sounds like we are all suffering from the plateau syndrome. Things just don't move much on the scale these days - one day up a couple and the next day down a few. It is hard to focus and get movtivated but if we stick with the plan ( protein & water) hopefully we will reach our goal. You have done great so far - keep with it. Good Luck Julia P

Topic: One Year Anniversary
I can hardly believe that one year has past since I had WLS. It has been a very hectic year, to say the least. My wife and I both had WLS in April 2006, our job was closed due to BRAC, so we were forced to sell our house, move to a new state, buy a new house, and start new jobs. Luckily being a federal employee, we didn't lose our grade, but still a very emotional year. In the first six months, I lost all the weight I wanted and then 30 pounds more. I had originally wanted to get down to 180 but here I sit around 150. I've been maintaining my 140 pound loss for about six months now and feel great. I've gone from a size 48 pants down to a 30, a 3X shirt down to a small and sometimes even a boy's large. This just blows my mind. I can't remember when I was this small....about 40 years ago. I have gone from taking 9 prescriptions a day for sinuses, high blood pressure, acid reflux, and possibly starting diabetes medication down to 2 a day for sinuses. I no longer snore which my wife loves. My surgeon said since I had high blood pressure for over 8 years that I may reduce my medication, but still be on it. I'm no longer on any and my blood pressure is normal. The support in this April 2006 Surgery Date forum has been great. I don't spend as much time in here as I'd like, but have made some great friends. I was lucky enough to draw Kathleen's name in the Spring Fling Secret Pal's on the Over Fifty Forum. Thanks for all the support and friendship. It's made this journey even more special. Floyd

Thanks, Joan! I'm not tiny by any means! The shirt is a medium and the pants are a 12. I'm just designed to be bottom heavy, but I look and feel so much better than last year at this time. We are coming up in a week and a day on our anniversary! The nice thing for me is that our support group for the hospital meets next Wed on my 1st year anniversary, so I will celebrate at my group meeting. Take care, Sue

Thanks, Kathleen! I am calling the PS office tomorrow because they want me to see their chiropracter and since lately I have been dealing with back pain, I want to see if they can help me. I will keep you posted. Take care, Sue

Sounds like gallstones to me. Mine flared up around eight months after my WLS surgery. I had surgery to remove and repair hernia at same time and feel soooo much better these days! Good luck, Lisa

Thanks Jenni, I will ask the surgeon about the gallbladder. I had wondered about that too. Take care Julia
