I am also having trouble drinking, I can eat like ½ of bowl of cream soup, SF Popsicles, bu****er, CL, shakes, argghhh I am just having trouble. I have no energy; my mouth is dry so I am sure I am getting dehydrated. Any ideas for what I can eat on this liquid diet- for 4 more days! Then the blendered stuff til 6 weeks then soft foods! From what I am reading most of you guys can eat soft foods already? Why does each Dr have such different rules? Does anyone know of a cookbook that gives us ideas for eating good foods in small amounts? I am not looking forward to pork baby food style for 6 weeks!

My first week out I couldn't stomach drinking either and my mouth was so dry - if I didn't each ice chips I would get so dry it would make me sick - I got by with ice chips pretty much when it came to water. Then I started freezing water bottles and sipping as it thawed. A few days after starting this I started to be able to drink CL that I kept in the fridge and partially froze in the freezer so it had ice crystals in it. Then I graduated to regular fridge cold CL - I've also tried SF Kool-aid which I like as I was getting tired of CL - just to switch it up a bit. Have you tried Sugar free fat free fudgesicles - they at least have a little protein from the milk - I started these as well but have to admit for about the first week popsicles were a real staple for me to get my fluids in. I also like SF chocolate jello pudding - gives some protein from the milk. I also added some really low cal FF cool whip to give a creamier taste. This worked well for me. Hope you can get some ideas to help you out. I'm lucky cause my doc had be on fluids for a week then regular food and I'm doing ok so far - started regular food Monday evening - no baby food for me and I was sick of pudding and broth. Good luck - hang in there it will get better - our taste buds go through some weird stuff at first. Carolyn

I had a hard time stomaching regular water. I ate surgar free popcicles and drank propel and flavored water at first. Once I was eating my soft food the flavor of the water seemed kind of strong and I've been mixing them half and half with water. Crystal Light seems really strong to me and I can't drink it at all now and I loved it before. Lizzie

A huge "hug" for you! I'm excited about going to pureed this weekend, no more strained broths and such. I'll be on pureed for about 2.5 weeks, then on to soft to transition to regular. I'm a couple days ahead of you and feel some of the frustration. If you can get your hands on Susan Maria's book or WLS for Dummies, they have some good recipes and suggestions. My clinic gave us some books they printed out with ideas and amounts, its been my bible. Melissa
