I had my surgery yesterday
Hey all,
Just wanted to let everyone know that I had my gastric bypass surgery yesterday at 7:30am. Everything went well. The surgery lasted for 2 hours and I was in recovery for 1.5 hours. The only thing i remember before surgery was being carted off to the OR and the nurse was telling my friend where the surgery waiting room was. When I woke up, I remember looking around thinking, man, they haven't done the surgery yet?! Then the nurse comes up to me and she's like, we've already performed the surgery and everything went well. Thank God!
I was put in my room at around 11:30ish and then my mother in-law came to visit me around 1pm. We went for a walk.
I then got back in the bed, I couldn't have any water, not even ice until after my swallow test, so my only side effects were a really really dry throat and I had some major gas that I couldn't get rid of.
My sister in law came to visit me that evening at around 7:30pm and we went walking again.
Today I had my swallow test and everything went well so when i got back to my room I had some delicious water and ice chips, LOL.
At lunch I had about 4 teaspoons of vegetable broth and 2 teaspoons of sugar free jello.
I went walking again and came downstairs to check my email.
I had dinner around 5:45. Rather than strawberry Jello, I had orange and then it was funny, it hurts when i laugh. But they had a lid over my main course and the nurse took it off and viola! I had some chicken broth, LOL. My dad was laughing so hard! I had about 8 teaspoons of chicken broth and 2 tablespoons of Jello (this is so weird to have such small portions and get full).
Well my mother-in-law was evious of me because she couldn't get out of the bed, walk alone, nor change her own panties, LOL.
So I call her up, she works in this hospital, and i'm like, i just wanted to tell you, I changed my own panties, bathed myself and even lotioned up with Brittany Spear's perfumed lotion called Curious, LOL.
I watched tv, fell asleep, and it's now 9:00pm CST. I woke up and came downstairs to check my email and submit this to the group to let everyone know that you have another member of the losing side.
I expect to be able to go home tomorrow.
I can't wait till I start seeing results and I'm anxious to get back in the gym.
Take care!
Sherry J.
