Hi all, sorry about the above blank post, woops!! I am five days post op after having lap rny, and have middle back discomfort most of the time. It seems to be better after I burp, which I do a lot! Is this normal? Also, when moving from the G1 diet to the G2 diet, do you discontinue the clear liquids or do you just add the other things to your diet? For instance, can you have sugar-free jello with your six level teaspoons of yogurt? I have already learned so much just from reading things on this site, and this is the first time that I have posted. Thanks all!

Hi Karen! Welcome to the April re-births and congratulations on your surgery! I've known people to have pain/discomfort from the gas up to a week post-op. So if burping helps, it is probably gas. They fill you up with it when doing Lap. I know when I had my hysterectomy I was in so much pain for DAYS from the gas, my back and up into my shoulder, it was awful. If you have questions about your post-op diet, you should maybe ask your surgeon or look over on the February/March boards. But from what I've gathered protein and liquids are the utmost importance. So as long as you're getting your proteins and liquids the s-f jellos and s-f popsicles are okay because they count as your liquids. Again, congratulations and I hope your back pain eases up soon!

I am just a little futher out than you and am having the same back pain. Burping helped me too. But I had to go to my Primary Doc for my diabetes and found out that I had a UTI. I am now on antibotics for that and the back pain in gone. My not be what you are having but, it might not hurt to check. Sam~~
