surgery DENIED

I was to have surgery today. My surgens office told me the doctors would do a peer to peer with the insurance company. But guess what they ran out of time to do that. Now I had to file an appeal. I did this and the insurance company is sending the paper work to me. I called the surgens office back to tell them all of this and they informed me the person who sends the paper work to the insurance co. Was released from her job today. I also recieved a letter from insurance telling me why I was denied due to lack of paper work surporting why I need the surgery. This sucks! Now I have to get my own paper work to get my surgery approved. I not sure what to do! I have gateway insurance Please help me!!!!!!

Im very sorry. Keep on trying tho. It sounds like you need to go and talk to your Dr. about this also. If there was a lack of paperwork supporting why you need it. Jennifer

If the surgeon fired the gal that was sending paperwork to the insurance company, they may have all of it in your file, and you may be able to get copies from them or have them help you with the appeal. I'm sure it will be approved if you send all the needed documentation in with the appeal. Cindee

Hey Jennifer I sincerely understand how uspetting this is. First find out the exact reason why you were denied. What paperwork are they missing? Call up your surgeons office and get copies of everything thats in your file. Also, it would help if the insurance company send you a list of the criteria for approval, that way you will know exactly what you need and compare it to what you already have in your file. Once you have gathered up all missing paperwork send your entire package to the insurance company with your appeal. Even if they already have some of the paperwork, send everything together again as a new package. I can help you with an appeal letter. Goodluck

I'm sure you disappointed but try and remember that all things happen for a reason. And for whatever the reason, it was not meant to happen today. Just be positive and don't give up! Your day WILL come!
