If that's not a reminder how fast my surgery is coming I don't know what is. Is anyone else out there having to do sugar-free full liquids 2 weeks pre-op? We can suffer together....lol.

Wow, Leann, No, my surgeon doesn't require it for 2 weeks, just 24 hours. I do have to do soft foods for 48 hours prior to the 24 hour liquid diet tho. I wish you luck with your full liquids. Can you take protien drinks too? The one I have to do is clear only for 24 hours. If you can do the protien drinks, you will feel more full I think, and have a bit more energy. Good luck with everything. Cindee

My doctor doesn't require any special diet before. We just have to not eat anything after midnight the night before surgery and drink a bottle magnesium citrate at dinner time before surgery. I however am going to do the clear liquid thing two days before.

No, Leann.. my doctor doesn't require the pre-op diet either. But I do know what you mean about reminders that surgery is coming fast... I looked at my "counting down to-do list" today and was supposed to have my passport by yesterday and it's not here yet!!! . I called the passport office and they said it's being mailed out tomorrow. I was very calm and nice but told the girl on the phone how important it is that I get it, like NOW, and she was ****y and said, "What do you want me to do, hand deliver it?"... I said, "UH, YES PLEASE, thank you very much".. I finally got her to laugh and she ditched the attitude. Either that or she's thinking.... I'll get her impatient A$$ and send it to Berlin or somewhere..

I'm envious of those of you who don't have to do more than a couple days of dieting. The whole purpose is to shrink my liver...yippee. I'll stick to it though because my doctor won't hesitate to turn the laproscopic procedure into open if he has to. SO I'm on 12 days of sugar free full liquids and then 2 days of clear right before surgery. I can do protein drinks and all taht stuff so I did manage to stay full today...still annoying though. Every food commercial on TV makes me drool. LOL Guess it's good practice for post-op.

I had to do a no sugar, high protein, liquid diet for two weeks, then got strep 2 days before surgery and had to postpone. My surgeon said that since I've already done two weeks, I only have to do one more week. Starting yesterday. I don't mind the diet, but I am hungry every 3 hours, so I really have to plan ahead, and yesterday I completely blew it in the evening due to giving in to head hunger. Hopefully I at least stayed even. I will try to be more faithful today. Only thing different than your diet is that I don't have to switch to clear liquids until after surgery. Heidi L-S

The head hunger is killing me too. I've been able to fend it off so far, but this is only day 2. I've also decided all food commercials should be banned from TV!
