New to this board!!
I am new to this board...I usually post in the TN and main boards but I am SOOOOO glad to post in this one!!!!! My surgery is scheduled for April 17th....day after Easter....maybe that's a good sign!!!! Anyone else scheduled the same day as me????
I do have a question...i'm kinda nervous about tues (all my preop tests)..I know it is for the best and I want them to find something wrong before I go under but I have fought for this for so long and now that it's here and i'm afraid it's too good to be true... i know i'm worrying too much but I want soooo much to start my healthy life.... Anyone out there who has gone through preop and can tell me how you were able to deal with it?
thanks and hugs...
Rose

Hi rose I had all of my preop testing done about 1 and a half ago and I'm not sure what your surgeon has you doing but I will tell you of all the test that I took first I had an ultrasound of the bladder (not bad except fot all the pressing up against the rib cage) then it was the upper gi and small bladder(the barium they gave me almost made me throw up)then I did the pulmonary function test(this test your lungs and its just awhole lot of blowing into this tube not bad) then I had a abg(oh the abg by far is the worst of the test they stick you in your wrist to find what your oxygen levels are )and after that I had some standard bloodwork and that was it for me but all in all it was not bad just think in a week or so you will be on the loosing side and all that you have gone through will be well worth it. I wish you an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery, be blessed latoya
my surgery is the 17th also...im not sure what the preop tests are...i thought i heard my doctor say its just like bloodwork and like a chest xray or whatever....but what do u mean too good to be true?? can they cancel ur surgery if the preop tests dont come out perfect or whatever???? im kinda nervous now too that u said tat cuz i thought i was set for good n now im not sure....ive had bloodtests b4 for my weight to check for like thyroid issues and all that and everything was negative..so i dont know...
good luck with ur surgery ill be thinkin bout ya
HI Rose , and welcome to the April surgery board! Nothing worth wanting for our health and happiness is "too good to be true" so just keep positive about your surgery and pre-ops. Since I'm going to Colombia for surgery, all of my preops are the same day, the day before surgery. At first I was concerned that they may find something in the tests that might postpone my surgery and how would I deal with that being in another country. But I'm really not worried anymore. I'm sure that everything will be just fine, that it's not meant for me to get that far and then not be able to follow through with the "plan". Also know that some of the preops are to help your surgeon and anesthesiologist DURING your surgery.
Just try and relax and know that each step you take in these upcoming days will put you one step closer to your new life. I wish you all the best with your surgery and recovery. ~Lisa V
Dear Rose,
What a beautiful name, I love it. I have surgery the same day as you do, April 17th. I am so happy for both of us as it is only a week away now.
My mom has watched over me during this entire process and I know your dad is there for you too. Maybe they are able to help us even more now then when they were here and not doing to well.
Well anyway I can't wait to see you change so have your husband take a lot of pictures.
Hugs,
Judith
