In Brazil and Ready for Surgery
Here I sit in beautiful Curitiba, Brazil -- in a cute little hotel room -- really not so little, but by American Standards -- it's probably small. I have a little kitchen, little living room, little bathroom with a little shower, little bedroom... it's all very European (yea I know South America is NOT European... but that's the best comparison.) Every place (hotel, hospital, clinic, resturant, and even the pharmacy) uses beautiful marble and tile floors even the walls are marble. It just seems classy.
My surgery is at 7:30 am and Dr Marchesini wants me at the hospital at 8:30pm tonight -- I'm so glad I don't have to be there at 5:30am! So by this time tomorrow I'll be switched and my DH will have arrived in country and I will be on the road to a thinner, healthier (and happier!) self.
Like someone else here said -- I have had no feeling of fear, anxiety, or dread. I keep waiting for it to hit, but so far... nothing! I'm thrilled to be in such a beautiful place with such attentive people. Durval is Dr M's nurse and he has come to the hotel to personally walk me to all of my appointments. (He walks a little fast, but that's good to get my heart rate up.)
Just wanted to check in with my April Sisters and let you know that I too will soon be on the losers bench!

Hi Lola
I had to chuckle when I read your "little kitchen, little living room, little bathroom with a little shower, little bedroom" and then I looked up and you're from a "verysmalltown"
You are already at the hospital but I wanted to tell you that I feel as you do about the doors being opened to make this possible, I'm going to Bogota Colombia and until finding this avenue, I just couldn't see it being possible for me to have this surgery. But ALL things in Time & Tide.....
Since my 10 pre-op appointments are in ONE day starting at 6am, I told my surgeon it's a good thing I'm having surgery the following day, I'll be EXHAUSTED and will need the rest
You will be in my thoughts and I wish for you peace & comfort with your surgery and recovery. See you back here soon!
