Michele - congratulations on being so very organized. I have to do all my shopping/packing this weekend. I have an appointment with a nurse tomorrow to review my post op diet and I will shop using the list she will give me. My surgery date is also 4/4 - we are surgery buddies! I send my best wishes to you for a safe surgery and a quick recovery. Keep in touch so we can compare our experiences. Bonnie

I have to get a filter put in as well. What was the procedure like? I am having it put in the day before the surgery so it would be part of my FMLA from work. Was it painful? Only a few more days for you. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Dotsie

no it wasnt painful at all. But I do have some brusing around the insertion area. yes this week is dragging. Good luck to you and dont worry about the filter. you may have a little discomfort in your hib area (my mom did) but other than that you dont even know you have it. michele

Hi Michele Congratulations on reaching this far in your journey. What did you pack for your hospital stay? I am looking for ideas on some of the things I need to stock up on for the first couple weeks. I know I need jello, popsicles, soup. What kind of protien shake will you be using for the first week seeing that its the clear liquid phase.

I ordered ispoure from bariatric eating.com , 40 grams of protien and they taste like jolley ranchers candies, you can buy them at gnc, they are the flavored water kind. I am also using atkins advantage. As far as clothing for hospital I paked 2 prs pjs , robe and socks. I dont think I'll be wearing the pjs though, I was told its better to stay in hosp. stuff. Good Luck to you - michele

Woah...what's a filter...and why do you need it. I wasn't told anything about a filter.

A filter catches any blood clots your body may pass during or after sergury. My dr. keeps them in for 6 months , in that time if thr filter is clear he removes it if not then he keeps them in. I'm not sure if all dr.s do this but I'm glad mine does. michele
