how long are you taking off from work??

I am taking a week. I have a sit down job.

I have surgery on April 27th, will be in the hospital 3 days after, then in the hotel 3 days after being discharged from the hospital, and fly home from Colombia on May 3rd. I, too, have a sit down job, so I plan on going back to work on the following Monday which is May 8th... I guess that's a total of 12 days from surgery date. I'd go back before then if I weren't going to be out of the country. I was only out a week following my hysterectomy but I do have a lot of support at work. So it made it a lot easier. I'd probably go back to work on the 4th but my daughter is currently deployed in the Army and coming on the 5th. She's been gone a year!!

Lisa We are surgery mates. I jsut got my date today -- April 27. I too am spending 3-4 nights in the hotel post surgery and then driving home, about 2 hours away though. A lot shorter than Columbia. I hope to not miss more than 2 weeks. I don't have an understanding employer and I need to be back as soon as possible, as to miss more, although it may be necessary, will be really stressful. Here's hoping it wiill all go well, and I have no co-morbidities, so, keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck to you! Kate

I am having mine on the 5th... returning to work the 10th I work a desk job... and when I say desk job.. I mean that I FIND excuses to get up because I get bored. I will be fine, and if I get tired or sick, I will just go home

Mine is the 5th also and returning on the 10th.. But if I feel pain or i can make it then I may try to do 1/2 days for the begining of the week

I asked for 5 weeks off and will return sooner if I can. I do a lot of visits in people's home (Home Health Care Social Worker) and drag a laptop with me. I figured it was easier to go back early than to ask for an extension. Melissa

I will take 2 weeks. I want to get use to my new me. I need some personal one on one. I need to be able to consult the FATHER about my wonderful reconstructions that will be taking place.
