How long before you can return to work after the WLS. I am having the gastric bypass. I have an office sit down job so it not too stressful. How long do you think??

Well.....I have not taken the surgery as of yet...but my friends that have actually taken the surgery suggest 6 weeks even with a sit down job. This give you time to get us to your lifetime change...KC

I took two weeks off also...after reading the other posts, I'm starting to wonder if that's enough time?? I hope so. This may sound crazy, but my surgery date was scheduled the same weekend that I was supposed to start my online teaching job, so they pushed my internship out a few days since I told them I was having surgery. So, I have surgery on the 21st, and I'm supposed to start submitting my email posts on the 24th (this is just prep work with my mentor - the actual class begins on 5/1). Now that I'm reading these posts, I'm wondering if I will be able to do that???

Tarra, I pray that will be enough time. I also hope you are able to fullfill your online teaching obligation.

I also plan on taking 2 weeks. I also have a sit down job and my co-workers have stated that they will help me in any way if I just ask - once I get back to work. Kari

I am anticipating two weeks. I am having the RNY lap so am hopeful to be recovered enough to return to work. My job is not too physically strenuous.

depends if it is open or laparascopic, I am lap and taking 6 weeks partly because of my job and the other is my surgeon wants to make sure I stay hydrated but she said most people go back 4 weeks I am not going to rush my health so I am taking advantage of the full 6 weeks best of luck hugs lisa

I'm having a lap RNY, I heal pretty fast, and I get bored really easily, so I'm planning on a week, two tops if all goes well. However, I have a really awesome employer, and have been told I can even do half days if I want, because they know I hate to be away from work!

All of my doctors suggested 6 weeks because I have Crohn's disease and associated arthritis that could flare because of the surgery, However, I thought maybe 5 and then my employer only approved 4 weeks. That is fine with me. I am hoping that the last week or two I will be able to get some things done in my home office.
