One Year Anniversary
I can hardly believe that one year has past since I had WLS. It has been a very hectic year, to say the least. My wife and I both had WLS in April 2006, our job was closed due to BRAC, so we were forced to sell our house, move to a new state, buy a new house, and start new jobs. Luckily being a federal employee, we didn't lose our grade, but still a very emotional year.
In the first six months, I lost all the weight I wanted and then 30 pounds more. I had originally wanted to get down to 180 but here I sit around 150. I've been maintaining my 140 pound loss for about six months now and feel great. I've gone from a size 48 pants down to a 30, a 3X shirt down to a small and sometimes even a boy's large. This just blows my mind. I can't remember when I was this small....about 40 years ago.
I have gone from taking 9 prescriptions a day for sinuses, high blood pressure, acid reflux, and possibly starting diabetes medication down to 2 a day for sinuses. I no longer snore which my wife loves. My surgeon said since I had high blood pressure for over 8 years that I may reduce my medication, but still be on it. I'm no longer on any and my blood pressure is normal.
The support in this April 2006 Surgery Date forum has been great. I don't spend as much time in here as I'd like, but have made some great friends. I was lucky enough to draw Kathleen's name in the Spring Fling Secret Pal's on the Over Fifty Forum.
Thanks for all the support and friendship. It's made this journey even more special.
