My one year followup.

I had my one year follow up on Friday. I was never given a goal weight. When he asked what weight I wanted to be at I said 150 and he said that was a good weight. Although I think that he would like it a little lower. Officially I started at 277 and was at 193 so I have at least 35 lbs more to lose. He won't do the hernia surgery until I'm closer to 150 so they can do the tummy tuck at the same time. I've lost 85 lbs since the surgery. The hernia has been hurting a bit so I will get another surgical binder. I also need to get more water in. I have a problem at work because I can't have water with me and they cut our allotted break time to 30 for lunch and 15 minutes for break. He's going to write a letter stating that I need 40 minutes for lunch and break. Of course, those extra 20 miutes a day will be FMLA and use up my vacation time. I have to see the nutritionist later this week with a log of my food. I have been gaining and losing the same 4 lbs since January. I need to break this plateau.

Jeanne, I know what you mean about gaining and losing the same four lbs since January. I was doing that too, until last week. I finally broke the spell, but dont know how. I lost 3 lbs last week. Yea. You will too, just keep up the exercise and get in as much liquid as you can. Keep us posted. Great job you have done. Kathleen

Hey Jeanne sounds like we are all suffering from the plateau syndrome. Things just don't move much on the scale these days - one day up a couple and the next day down a few. It is hard to focus and get movtivated but if we stick with the plan ( protein & water) hopefully we will reach our goal. You have done great so far - keep with it. Good Luck Julia P

Congratulations on your one year anniversary. Keep up the good work and I am sure you will reach your goal. I was just wondering what your job entails that you cannot have water with you? It doesn't seem right that you couldn't be sipping water during the day so that you wouldn't need to use up your vacation time for a human basic need that everyone needs and especially us post op's. Best of luck for your continued success. Sher

Sher I work in a hospital transfusion service, and everyone has to follow universal blood precautions. That means that when I'm in the lab I have to wear gloves and gown. No eating, drinking, or gum chewing. So I can't have a bottle of water by my side. Jeanne
