Questions about Plastic Surgery...
I'm about 25lbs shy of my goal weight and was wondering had any of you considered having plastic surgery. I was told that Blue Cross Blue Shield (which is what I have)pays for a tummy tuck after one year and 100 lbs gone. Are any of you aware of this? I'm going to contact my insurance company, but I was just curious if any of you were seeking info on the same topic.
I'm about 40 lbs from my personal goal and 10 from my surgeon's for me. I am already thinking about plastic surgery becuase I have a plethora of excess skin. I am pretty sure that I am going to have to pay for some of it myself. One of the first things I'd like to have done are my batwings. Then my stomach. After that boobs, possibly thighs and I'd like to see if they can do something about my turkey neck. My insurance is pulling out of the NY market at the end of this month and I am still not sure what plan I am picking up after that. I have to make sure that my PCP, surgeon, sons' doctor, podiatrist and eye doctor that we use are all on my new insurance. Then I will deal with PS. Our open enrollment is in June so I can research further and go for an insurance that might give me more options. At this point tho, I am in the beginning stages of searching for a good surgeon.
Good luck with your search.

I have BC/BS of Mi and they require 6 months at Dr's goal weight. The PS Doc told me when I have been at that weight for 6 month then some see him. Make sure I have any rashes, discomforts, back aches, etc well documented from my PCP.
So... I hit my doc's goal weight this morning so 6 months from now!
I had my plastics in Dec ..... well part of my plastics....i had a circumfrential tummy tuck, i had been at goal for 3-4 months, and my bypass surgeon gave me the go ahead bc i have no intention of trying to get any smaller.
my insurance DID cover my tummy, but from what i understand that is not the norm. the only documentation that i had was pics that the ps took in the office at consult. it was his idea to submit to insurance, so i went with it. couldnt have asked for a better christmas gift than all that skin gone forever.
if you have any more questions you can email me at [email protected]
take care and good luck~
