Coming back home!
Hello all,
I have not been in this forum in a very long time...I was being very 'teenager-like'...thinking I had this all under control. Well, today I weighed myself and for the first time I've actually gained weight...only a couple of pounds, but enough to scare the bejezus out of me and for me to realize that I AM NOT in control of this, and I CANNOT do this alone. So, I went back to my OH site to post a public announcement that I will get back on track, but as I posted my note I realized that my (our) one year anniversary is coming up! That really caused me to analyze where I am right now vs. where I want to be. So, for those of you who are also not losing or even worst - gaining - PLEASE keep in touch with me - let's get back on track together!
I am (was) a member of another Surgery Weight Loss forum and they posted a plateau 'diet' that I will follow for one week (the suggested time frame)...if anyone else knows of any good plateau or 'get-back-on-track' meal plans, please let me know. I understand there may be some posted here, so I'll browse around here also.
Thanks for listening!
(PS - here is the plateau plan, if anyone is interested in seeing it)

Welcome back Tarra, I dont believe we have officaially met. I am Kathleen Gregory and I had wls on April 24, but then that is on my profile. I have lost 133 lbs and I hope by the end of March to be in onderland. Yea.
I was gaining a couple of pounds and then I was at a plateau for 2 1/2 months. My nutritionionst told me to do clear liquids for 3 days, nothing but, and then for the next 3 days do the clear liquid plus one protein shake a day. That jumpstarted my system back into the weight loss. I lost 10 pounds within a month. So if nothing else try that.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Rebecca, basically it is what we have right after the surgery, broth, sf popsickle, sf jello. The on the 4th day you add ONE protein shake each day for the next 3 days. That will just start you, or should, it did me. It is just going back to basics, and it takes alot of will power, to do this since we can eat regular food. I know it was hard on me to do it, was always wanting some real food. But I stuck it out and did great, was so happy for the weight loss that the sacrfice was worth it.

Kathleen, I am currently trying your nutritionist's clear liquid plateau buster diet. I don't guess I have really plateaued, but felt my weight loss was slowing down too much and I think it will be good to get me out of the munching thinking. This is my second day. Lost a pound from yesterday, so hopeful that this will help jump start my loss again. I know we do slow down---but I don't want too!!! I also had gotten into the habit of getting too many sugar free, skinny mocha's and this will help put a stop to that. I also have a friend who is going to have surgery on her knee soon and also has atypical cells on her pap smear and may have to have surgery for that as well. She is quiting smoking (thank the lord- I do not do that) and she will quit caffiene. Anyway I told her I would quit coffee too. Costs too much money any and will leave more for new clothes huh.
I have to admit that I did eat some unsalted, raw almonds each day however. Julia
Tarra, welcome back. You are going in the right direction by seeking support. That plateau plan you posted seems to have alot of food included in it. That is just my opinion though. Are you getting in your protien? Your water? Your exercise? Remember the basics. Try keeping a food journal. There are web sites to help you track your food intake, calories and nutrition and exercise. I use this web site to help me with those things and to help motivate me.

At this stage many of us start to struggle with our weight loss, the honeymoon period is over. We need to watch what we eat and step up our exercise program to continue to get to our goals.
Hang in there,
You can get back on track.
