Question on dumping

I have not posted in a long time so first of all forgive me. I do come in and read. I am 10 mos post op and always have been pretty careful. However, last night my hubby decided to have a bowl of cereal before bed and it sounded so good I thought what could it hurt I have ate cereal before at breakfast. Just the timing was a complete no no. Well, I ate a bowl of Frosted Flakes, it must have been way too much sugar and not dairy as I drain every spoonful so I don't get much in the milk. About an hour and a half later I was in bed just about to fall asleep when this massive pain hit me. I mean massive, I have had had pancreatitis before and it was much the same up high, boring through to the back. I hugged the toilet for 1/2 an hour and retched for about 5-10 min but it was non-productive. I really thought I was going to have to go to the ER. I was sweating profusely and the pain was unbearable, I really thought I would have to go to the hospital that it was pancreatitis, I could not stop moaning and begging for God to help me, if anyone has ever had it you know the pain is 100 times worse then having a baby. Was this dumping syndrome? I have ate sugars before and even this cereal Frosted Flakes with a 1/2 a banana sliced on it. The most I have ever gotten is a hot flash for doing a no no, so this really through me a real curve. I have heard people speak of nauseated sick feeling, sweating, vomiting and or diarrhea, but not the severe pain that I had. The pain is what has had me concerned, I don't want my pancreas to get sick again. My last labs showed my triglycerides back up again, along with cholestrol, in fact the whole blood test was really out of whack, and the B-1 still won't come up. Any in put would be appreciated. Thanks much Wendy

Yes..it sounds like dumping to me but I am not a doc so I would call them and check but I would also stop the frosted flakes. What is the sugar per serving of them and can you eat a whole portion? I know I could not and live to tell about it. I get sick on anything over 5grams which our nutritionist recommends we stay at. Please be careful...and let the pouch be your guide. Hope your lab work comes up and you feel better soon. In Him, Joan M

everyone dumps differently I have fallen asleep many times. I've only had the full on dump evactuation ONCE and hold crap (litterally) I find I do well with natural sugars likes fruits and stuff of that sort, its processed and refined sugars I dont' do well with I find if I keep it under 10 grams perserving I am okay.

Wendy, that was definetaly dumping, no doubt about it. Sounds like you are absorbing to much of your vitamins and that needs to be taken care of. I am sorry you got sick, but I DO KNOW how that feels. There are some things that I eat all the time, and then one day, I eat it and get sick from it. I think are pouch just wants to show us they are in control not us. Kathleen

Wendy, I have never dumped, but from the discription you gave, I will NEVER eat over 4-5 grams of sugar ever. That sounded TERRIBLE! I hope you are feeling better and it doesn't happen again. Also, if the pain was worse than having a baby, (UGH!)I would definitely call the Dr. just to check.Kim M.
