WOW......i had a rough evening....I try to eat every 2 hours.....and have been doing good at it.....tonight at 6:30 i had one of my protein bars and 90 mins later i was in a dead sweat complete with shaking.....tested my sugar and it was 88...ate a couple spoonfuls of crunky peanut butter (first peanut better post surgery) and the juice from a small can of pineapples.....wow... when i got home my parents asked if i was okay i said no, i think my sugar dropped...mom wanted me to test my sugar and i was like let me get ouf of this sweater.......man i was dying....had the shakes and sweats really bad.... i think this has been happening when i'm sleeping as i wake up sometimes in a dead sweat....not the shakes but really sweaty. Ruth Ann, are you diabetic or is this from the surgery? What you went through sounds terrible. Kim M.

Ruthann This happens when I eat a whole protein bar too many sugar alcohols.....I feel like diabetic reaction even though I am not....it sounds like dumping syndrome from the sugar alcohols....but ask Dr. for sure. If I do anything w/over 5 grams of surgar or sugar alcohol it happens. Joan M

definitely sound like dumping, or at least the way it was discribed to me. I have never experienced it. Talk to your Doc and see what he/she says. Some protein bars are really high in carbs and I hear that can set some people off, I've also heard fried foods or sugar. Take care Ruth Ann, it sounds like a bad experience to me. Darla

Ruth Ann, I know EXACTLY how you feel!!! The couple of times that has happened all I could do was sleep it off. I didn't test my sugar, but my symptoms were just as you have described. It is really a nasty sensation and for me...it does last several hours. I have learned not to eat any thing with more than 18 to 20 carbs...for the total meal or this does happen. Talk about negative conditioning!!! Take Care! Cyndi
