What is the calculation?
Hi, your question got me interested in finding out the answer to my own percentage of weight loss. The only answer I found was in an old post, I am not sure it is the correct way to figure it out but it makes sense to me, so here is what I found out.
get your starting weight, your goal weight, the number of pounds you have lost so far, and the number of pounds you need to lose to get to your goal.
divide the number of pounds lost so far by the the total number of excess pounds you
need to lose to get to goal.
example 269lbs start weight
goal weight 150
current weight 180
pounds lost so far 89
total needed to goal 119
89 divided by 119 rounded off comes to .75 or 75% of excess weight lost
What do you think? Does that sound right?
Let me know if that is right.

Ok - let me try.
Surgery weight: 368
Goal Weight: 202 (don't agree with the scan )
Current weight: 245
Pounds lost so far: 123
Total needed to get to goal: 166
123/166 = 74% (woohoo if this is right!)
I don't know if that's right or not - I don't remember the old calculation having the goal weight in it. It was just based on actual numbers, not assumed ones.
thanks for the info,
sarah
