After the fall, so to speak
I posted last month that I had taken a header at work and I was ok, but it was quite a spill. Well....I started seeing spots or flashes in my eyes in the last few weeks. I went to my pcp who thought it was nothing serious and probably just due to a change in my glasses prescription. I had already made an appt for my son and me for the eye doctor tho. My son for his regular checkup and me for the flashes/spots. When I explained my story to the dr, she said, it sounds as though you could have damaged your retina. It seems that nearsighted people have a much higher risk at retina damage and especially with a fall. So I won the lottery on the retina damage. It seems that I had a substantial tear in my left retina and a thinning spot in my right eye. She was going to wait until Friday, but decided that she didn't want to let it go because there is an outside chance of the retina detaching and that would be way more serious. So she said she'd laser it and then put it through for approval tomorrow (meaning today). So I got my eye lasered last night. It's not so bad, it just felt like that irritation when something was in your eye, but the part that stinks is that I can't exercise for 2 weeks because they have to make sure the retina seals properly. In another life, that wouldn't have bothered me, but since exercise and my beloved Y are so much a part of my life, it bums me out, but I don't want the eye getting worse so I'll deal. After all, it could always be worse.
On another note, while I still have not sent in my picture for my profile thing, I have uploaded some pictures from over the months including the last two from Christmas.
Take care, Happy Tuesday!
Sue
Thanks, Jeanne.
I didn't even realize how serious this could be, but at the same time, I'm just happy it's not something like a tumor (you read about how some time after a fall, people get serious stuff going on with brain bleeds and such. In fact, after I fell, I was regaled with stories of people who fallen and then died the next month or so. Needless to say, I've been a bit nervous to begin with.)
Take care,
Sue
