Another question folks- My hips and back ache so much when I try to sleep. Plus I get a shooting pain down my thighs. It also hurts when I sit for very long. The thingh pain is almost all of the time. My reg. doctor put me on a pain killer and got me a rheumatologist appt. The rheumatologist gave me a muscle relaxer to help me sleep. They both thought it is from my 80 weight loss and my body changing. Has anyone else dealt with this sort of thing? What did you do? The doctors said it was probably bursitas. Kim M.

I've heard that our bones take a while to adjust to our new size, could be why you are having aches. You might consider having a massage to relax your muscles so your bones can relax too. If it doesn't help at least you've given yourself a nice reward Darla

Mine was a problem with my bed. It was too hard with all the fat gone and the hips and back were hurting. I bought one of those temperpedic mattress toppers and have been good so far. good luck with your appointments. I hope it isn't anything too bad. Jenn

Oh Wow, I would love to have a temperpedic mattress. I laid on one when I was buying my son a new bed this past fall. They are fabulous, but not in my budget right now. Plus, my pillow top mattress is only 2 years old and it wasn't a piece of junk either. Though I wondered if it was hard because of the pain. I go back to the rheumatologist tomorrow. Thanks for your advice Jenn.

I didnt know that my back and hips would hurt from the surgery. I never heard it being brought on by weight loss, but that might explain why my hurt more now than before. My collar bone is killing me, the pain goes all the way up to my head along my neck. Thanks for the info Kathleen

Hi kathleen, my doctor was surprised in a way too. She said she was surprised it didn't hurt more before surgery. Then the rheumatologist said it was because my body has undergone such a big change in a short time. Did you hurt your neck when you exercised or you upper back. Your pain sounds unbearable. Kim M.

Hi Kim, Sounds like my sciatica symtoms. I had it terrible, on both sides, back and down both legs. Since losing so much weight, it's nothing compared to what it used to be. I find that if I sit for too long, especially at work, I can feel it start to hurt. As long as I get up and move around it doesn't get bad like before. Sitting at work and nights used to be the most painful times. There isn't much that can be done for sciatica except for surgery if it gets unbearable. Exercise and stretching does help some. Hopefully that's not what you have. Are you exercising? Do you find it's worse after exercising, or maybe when not exercising?

I do have the most pain when sleeping and sitting, but sometimes it hurts just out of the blue. As far as exercising goes, I have been a little off track, yet I am sure I put on a lot of miles Christmas shopping at the mall and preparing for the holidays. Maybe my muscle tone is shot. I really am not a strong person. I am so sorry about your sciatica. I have heard that is so painful. My mom had it and boy did she complain. I'm sorry you have that, too. What is it exactly? Kim M.

I was driving the other day, a five hour trip, and thought about you. Even though mine isn't as bad as before, it sure does still hurt when I'm driving for very long at a time. Here's some info on sciatica. Hopefully you don't have it but there's some good info on getting proper diagnosis and treatments in case..... http://www.spine-health.com/topics/cd/d_sciatica/sc01.html
