Gallbladder and hernia surgery this Friday

What wonderful timing! I started with stomach cramps and chills during the Thanksgiving holiday. Knew something wasn't right and went to see my surgeon immediately when I got back to town. He said it could be hernia, ulcer or gallstones. Lucky me - two out of three! Just completed all of the testing yesterday and they wanted to schedule surgery in three weeks. I feel so bad though and begged for a sooner date. So Friday it is. I am so thankful that it will be done laproscopically, same day and by my WLS surgeon. I am scrambling like crazy to get everything ready for Christmas. My kids, parents and sister are all coming to stay on Friday! They will just have to do a little more work than they were expecting! LOL! Merry Christmas and a healthier, happier New Year in 2007 to all of my April friends! Love you all, Lisa

At least they can get both done in one surgery. You will do alright. I had stomach pains and they couldnt find anything, so they went in and my WLS doctor found a hernia, and a bowel obstruction. So I got lucky and only have one surgery for both. I healed really good this time, not like the first time. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Enjoy the new happier and healthier you this year. Oh and have a Happy New Year. Kathleen

I am thankful that they found out what the problem is and that the surgeon was still in town to operate on you. I pray for a successful operation, recovery and all the help that your kids, parents and sister could possibly give. I also pray that they help, truly help and make your Christmas a blessed and merry one. Kim M.

Thanks, Kimberly! I am thankful too. And although I won't be too mobile, I am blessed to have the time with my family. Take care, Lisa

Hey Lisa!!! I was just thinking of you today and planning on emailing you when I got home from work. I am so sorry to hear your not feeling well. At least you found out what it is and it was diagnosed quickly. With the lapro surgery you should heal alot quicker. Its a bummer over the holidays tho. I guess your gallblader and hernia don't know that. You prob will be glad when this year is over!! Tell the doc to give you a tummy tuck while in there!! LOL Please take it easy and let all of your loved ones take care of you. That's what they are there for. Luckily your kids are grown up and will be able to help. Please send me your address as I would like to send you a card. Hopefully in a few weeks you will be A-OK!! and back to jogging the mile!!! I will be thinking of you and keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Merry Christmas-Sharon

Hey, girl! This has been the year for surgeries in my family! The good news is that I will have no out of pocket expenses for this surgery since I am having before 2007! I am a little bummed about recovering during Christmas and not being able to do my running, but will be so glad to have this sucker taken out! Thanks for thinking of me and I am sending you my address! Merry Christmas to you and your family, Lisa

Good luck Lisa! I had my gallbladder removed December 1st. I developed a large gallstone because of the fast weightloss. I don't know why, but this surgery seemed a lot more painful for me than the gastric bypass. I had the surgery laproscopically on a Friday morning, came home the same day, and didn't really get out of bed until the following Sunday afternoon. I kept pretty well medicated on liquid loratab (I had about 2/3 of a bottle during that period of time). I hope yours isn't as painful! Well, my surgeon said that I had a gallstone the size of an olive, they're typically sunflower seed in size. He even took a picture of it LOL .... leave it to me At any rate, I hope you have an uneventful surgery and speedy, pain free recovery Merry Christmas to you and yours! April

APRIL!!! I was really hoping this was going to be easier than my bypass! I don't have any large gallstones, but lots and lots of little floating ones! They were actually kind of pretty. My surgery is on a Friday morning as well, so if I follow your path, I will be out of bed in time for Christmas Eve! Thanks for the well wishes and Merry Christmas, Lisa
