Just say NO!

In an article on CNN, 41% of women say holiday stress pushes them to "comfort eating". This is our first post-op holiday season so we must continue to be STRONG and just say NO to those little voices in our heads tempting us to eat things we know we shouldn't. I'm happy to say that I've yet to put one piece of candy, cookie, cake or any other in my mouth....so far . http://www.cnn.com/2006/HEALTH/12/18/diet.holidays.comfort.ap/index.html

Yeah - the holidays are a tough time of year. Those goodies just call out to me. I haven't been as good as you have been, but I have not gone crazy indulging those impulses to sample EVERYTHING. And that is a big change from last year, for sure. I find that if I continue to eat according to my plan (protein first, then veggies, then carbs) I really have very little room for things I shouldn't be eating. If hubby and I go out for dinner, sometimes (rarely) he will get a dessert and I will take a bite or two, but I hate that overfull feeling and know I just don't have room to indulge in more than that. We have to just do the best we can and remember to keep our goals in mind when faced with the holiday sampling temptation. That little question, "Is it worth it?" tends to keep me on track (most of the time). Bonnie

girl, you certainly got some strong willpower. I made cookies for work and other parties last night... though I didn't eat a whole cookie... I did have some crumbles from a bad batch that didn't turn out right... it probably equalled to a whole cookie though. I did workout yesterday though ... burning almost 700 calories, so I guess it couldn't have done too much harm. Way to go on the willpower though!! April

I have been pretty good. I made some candy for my kids, and gave it to them, I tried one piece and it made my stomach hurt, so I havent went near it since. I did however make some sugar free peanut brittle and peanut butter fudge, but I dont eat too much of it at one time though. But you are right we need to remember to say "NO" to the items that we know will put the pound on that we have worked so hard to keep off. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Holidays. Oh the temptations are everywhere. I can hardly pass over those red and green M&M candies. They were always my favorite. I did lick the bowl once when baking, but I am so afraid to eat and not dump that I just won't try. yet, I do notice I am reaching for the yummy protein bars more often to compensate. This is a hard time of year! UGH! Kim M.

I applaud your will power. Me, I had a slice of Cheesecake and some peanut butter cups. In the Beginning anything with the slightest bit of sugar bothered me. I actually loved that because sugar is my downfall. but unfortunatly the cheesecake didn't bother me Laura
