What you miss most....
I don't dwell on it but I can't lie and say that I don't miss a lot of the food I used to eat. I LOVED to eat, cook, bake, etc. And though I don't deny myself if I really want something, I'll take just a bite of it--I think I had gotten so used to the large "helpings" of what I loved to eat, maybe it's that that I miss as well. But I certainly don't miss how I felt after I overate .
If you had to pick something that you miss MOST what would it be? And be specific.... don't just say "italian food", that's too general. If it's italian food you miss most, what kind of italian food? If it's a specific "meal" that you miss most, what is it?
The meal I miss most is a BIG piece of medium rare prime rib with horseradish sauce, garlic smashed potatoes, creamed spinach, SEVERAL yeast rolls with loads of butter, ( i think I miss breads most of all ) and warm blackberry cobbler with vanilla bean ice cream....lol. and I'm literally laughing because I can remember not so very long ago, how good it all tasted and how overly STUFFED I'd be when I got up from the table.
I don't even think like that about food anymore. There are certain things I miss and some of the things I can still eat, just a fraction of the "before" helping. Like I can still eat prime rib and creamed spinach if made with a lowfat recipe. But there's no longer the real desire, cravings, and taste that I used to have, the "addiction" I guess. Now, I honestly have to tell myself I NEED to eat. Messes with my mind at times .
But I wouldn't go back to my old way of eating for a million bucks, even if I could.
I really miss a huge plate of chicken & broccoli alfredo over penne pasta. Wow, I used to love that.....and the several breadsticks that used to go along with it. But I, too, don't deny myself small servings of most things so I think it is eating the VOLUME of favorite foods that I miss. Funny, huh?

I honestly haven't missed anything yet. But come New Years Eve when I use to get 4lbs of shrimp and eat all 4lbs by myself and this year I will only get about 1lb and that will last me for about 3 days I am going to miss that. I love seafood, and I use to be able to eat almost a bushel of crabs by myself and now I can eat about 6 if I eat them extremely slow over about a 4 hours period. I have only done that once though this past summer.

What I miss the most is, my neices homemade chicken strips, and most of the cookies. I tried a shortbread carmel topped cookie last week and it made me so sick that I dont care if I ever see one again, lol
I tried not to deny myself something that I want to eat, but most of the time since I havent had it since surgery it wont stay down. So I usually just avoid it.

Carol, I miss some breads too, rolls, bagels etc. but the one time I tried an english muffin, whole wheat it was, it got stuck and I was so in pain and sick that I always think of that when I see bread. I hope that memory sticks with me. I would really like to have some fried oysters too, but I dump on fried or greasy foods, including regular fat cheese. I will stick to low fat string cheese and have no oysters! Julia
