ulcers?
Does anyone know the symptoms of ulcers and the treatment for people who have had gastric bypass? I am having some intermitten stomach pain that is relieved by eating or drinking some milk, and I just suspect an ulcer or stomach irritation due to the fact that I have taken a lot of Tylenol lately due to pain in my hips and knees. Thoughts anyone? Kim M.
Kimberly M, I had stomach pain that was like a cramping, and the doctor did a cat scan and didnt find anything. So this past friday I had surgery and they found a blockage, and a hernia. Of course I didnt get any relief that I can remember. They say that any kind of pain need to be address with your doctor, so they can find the cause.

The best hospital and Doctor is Boone Hospital of Columbia, and Dr James Pitt. Him and his staff are just great. We are having a meeting on the 14 of December at 6:30 and tell your aunt she is welcome . It will be at the Advance Medicine on the South side of the hospital. She can come and learn more. The doctor and whole staff will be there. But If she has Medicare, then she has to go to Sedelia, and I dont know the doctor there. But if you go to the Missouri board under RNY there are alot of people on there that has had that doctor.
Any time, I can help just let me know.
That is what families are for right?

i have had 2 ulcers; one about 3 months out and one came in last week. it started for me with constant nausea, and moved on to not keeping anything down. the first time was worse bc i chalked it up to me doing something "wrong" like not chewing correctly. but i got severly dehydrated bc i couldnt even get fluids in. this time my surgeon did a upper GI to rule out stricture and then when we knew it wasnt that he just gave me my meds again that worked the last time.
i hope that this has helped some, if you need anything else just email me and let me know!
hope that you had a wonderful holiday!

I went through some rough times back August, September, and October. Was in the E.R. then admitted to the hospital for tests. Cat scan didn't show the ulcers. I checked myself out since no insurance, and scheduled outpatient Endoscopy and Colonscopy. The Endoscopy showed two ulcers, one was HUGE. That was on Oct. 3rd. I've since been on Prilosec which is obviously curing them because I've had no pain after about two weeks taking the meds. Dr.'s not sure why I got the ulcers so soon after surgery since I'd taken Nexium for 3 months post-op. I guess it just happens to some more than others. He said I should plan on taking the Prilosec for life to avoid ulcers in the future. I'm just glad they found the cause of the pain because it was unreal. I was miserable and scared. Mine was also relieved by eating. And the pain was worse in the middle of the night. I went into more detail about it in my profile. You're welcome to read it.
