Does food still get stuck for you?
I am concerned that I have stretched my pouch and that my stoma is too wide. I can chew up a piece of meat maybe twice and swallow it and it doesn't get stuck. That is really what was preventing me from eating so much before because the food would get stuck and it was taking too long to eat. Now, sometimes I forget I had surgery. I can eat just like before and I can eat ALOT more!
I read somewhere about getting your STOMA scarred so that it would become smaller. Has anyone else gone through this? How do I ask my Dr. about this? Am I overexaggerating?
Do you guys still have a hard time getting food to go down or can you guzzle drinks down and chew up food just like before and swallow with no problem?
Hey there fellow Texan,
Yeppers, it scares me to death how much and how fast I can eat. I can flat chow down, but the quantity is really not there. I STILL over eat and get sick, not as much as before, but it does happen. There are some things that I am still learning, for instance, I can eat a handful of candy corn....but 2 marshmellows make me dump, bad! (Yesterday, thank you Mr. Marshmellow) I can still eat emotionally and I have to be very careful of trigger foods. It is very scary and I have been at a stall for the last month...been sitting at 99 or 98 pounds lost for that long. Playing stupid games and not making my goal. This is hard work and I have to remember that ....
Good luck everyone....Thanksgiving is a day that has changed forever for us....it is a good thing, and a blessing.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Cyndi
You mean that I am not the only one who stalls on the weight loss??? I get so scared when that happens.... nothing for about 2 weeks then all of a sudden lose 5-lbs.
Now, about the food. Yes, it depends on what I eat. Soups I can usually eat about 1 cup so I feel like I am eating a lot but solid food I can still only eat maybe 1/2 a cup if I am lucky. I tend to eat a lot of soup because I feel less deprived so I tend to forget that I really still cannnot eat a lot. It scares me though and I do wonder if I am stretching my pouch out.
Meat, I am still not so good on, it is very hard to get to "sit right" and tends to make me uncomfortable so I do not eat much of that. I do, however, eat a lot of salad which I can also eat quite a bit of. I have to remind myself on salad that it is really not as much as it looks like. This can get frustrating, can't it?
