Losing slowing to a standstill

In August, I lost 4 pounds. Last month(sept.), I lost 8 pounds. This month(oct), maybe one pound, maybe nothing. I am up 2 pounds, but that might be from my period water weight. It has been fluctuating wildly lately. Hopefully it will drop off soon, but I'm irritated. I always get in all my protein and water. I am trying to cut back on carbs and not eat refined carbs at all. I have my checkup next Wednesday and I am dreading seeing the nurse's face fall when she sees that I've lost 13 pounds in 3 months. Shouldn't I be doing better than that? Maybe I can lose a few pounds of water weight between now and Wednesday.

Jenn, I feel your frustration... hang in there, I think this is slowing down for most of us now. I wish I knew why and how to fix it but I'm not qulified to say one way or the other. I'm thinking I'm going to have to start over with just 2 oz of protien at each meal and drinking the water like it's going out of style. I think if we just continue to stick to our program the way we are supposed to than the weight will start dropping off again. 13 lbs in 3 months is much better then what we had before WLS... good luck Darla

I understand completely.... I've lost 4 lbs in the past month. I got a little depressed about it and stopped watching what I eat, vitamins, water, and exercise. Which is what I use to do prior to surgery..stall during a diet, get frustrated, give up, eat something bad lol .Plus I was on my period too which makes me even more emotional. But today, I got back on the horse so to speak. I didn't come all this way for nothing ya know. I just keep thinking of everything I can do now. Last Saturday I jogged 18 minutes straight. I couldn't even jog as a kid! But I guess a slow down is to be expected with the rapid losses we've experienced. I'm just ready to get over this hump and continue with the loss Take care! April

Jenn we have to slow down sometime, see what the doc has to say they might have some ideas for you. My only advice would be what your already doing getting in your water and protein so I dunno. I say a prayer for all of WLS folks every day that we stay on track and if we have a bad day we start right back up to the right road. We can do this, nothing worth while is easy. Hang in there!!!!!

I know that is so frustrating, esp b/c you are doing everything right. Maybe you are nto getting enough calories? When I have a bad eating day it moves the scale downward. Maybe b/c I don't get enough calories on my good days and I trick my body?? I don't know. This is for the long run and you are doing it the most medically sound responsible way, I am sure the weight will keep melting off.

Don't despair, you are not alone. I too lost about 13 lbs in the last three months but was told that I am right on target for weight loss, even so I was disappointed too but just hang in there it will continue to come off. Sher

Jenn, I had my follow up last week and the nutritionist warned me about the loss slowing down and plateaus. She also said that without enough PROTEIN my body would want to conserve more energy and calories and therefore the loss would slow down. So, perhaps look at your protein intake as well as other factors. Ricki
