Is it JUST ME?!
I am able to eat about 5-6 ounces of food at a time. Like I can literally eat 3 whole chicken legs. I thought I was supposed to be able to only eat 4 oz of food? It's just frustrating because I feel like I'm ALWAYS hungry! I mean my stomach is literally GROWLING like crazy and i feel like I'm always eating! I'm getting REALLY frustrated because my weight loss has become non existent practically, I'm working out buring 600 calories on the eliptical and it's like the next day I've GAINED a pound. I don't know what's wrong, but being that I have been so tired lately that I'm literally dozing off at work while I'm sitting in a chair training with someone or watching tv at home and wake up hours later to my 2 and 4 year old waking me up because it's not even THEIR bed time! I'm starting to wonder if I have hypothryoidism! This makes no sense to me AT all! I don't understand how the first month I was losing about a pound a day, the 2nd and 3rd months I lost atleast 10 pounds and then all of a sudden, it's like haulted and I fluctuate and gain weight! It's driving me INSANE! I don't know what to do because I wonder if it's something I stick to a low carb diet! I mean I know people who've had the surgery who drink non-diet sodas, eat non, low fat, or low carb chips and cookies and icecream and everything else you can think of and they DON'T exercise or get their protein in or take their vitamins and they STILL manage to lose weight. Yet here I sit, struggling? My 6 months was yesterday and I am TERRIBLY disappointed in my weightloss. Anyone have any suggestions or advice?
NO, I dont think its just you. BUT I would definately have the thyroid checked. What happened to me was man, was I tired, no energy whatsoever. So I had blood work done and I had hypothyroidism. This was about 8 weeks ago. They started me on Synthroid 75 and retested after 6 weeks, and it showed normal but low normal so she upped it to 88. I had never had Thyroid issues before and I am 50 years old but my PCP explained it like this. My Thyroid was used to functioning at 300 lbs, then very quickly it dropped to 200 lbs and the thyroid got confused and just stopped working. Made sense to me. NOT that I am dropping weight really fast again, about 2 lbs a week but I am not so tired. Also my blood work showed up low Iron and Calcium and Vitamin A. All of which will make you tired. Maybe you could also have a defeiency in a Vitamin or Iron. I have only lost an average of 8 lbs per month for the last 3 months but lost 71 the first 3. As far as always being hungry, I have days like that too yet I have days, I barely eat at all. It sure is hard to figure this all out. Good Luck, hope things turn around for you.

Yeah actually i just talked to my dad and found out my mom's was HYPERactive. Uh, if mine was HYPERactive, I wouldn't go to the dr. until I reached goal, LOL!!
I'm 6 months out and I've only lost 65-75 pounds . I put that range because my scale has fluctuated for months between 228 to 220. I mean this has been going on for 2 months. How in the WORLD am i GAINING weight? I know the scale i right because I can get on someone else's scale or the scale at the gym and it says the same thing. I guess I'm frustrated because this surgery is like the ultimate weight loss tool and either I can't get it to work right or it's just NOT going to work for me and I'm going to be stuck being obese for life!
I got my bloodwork checked recently and they said everything looked fine. It was a CBC and mainly they were checking my pottasium, protein and B-12. But I go back to the Dr. on Nov 1 and then to my main dr. on the 27th of Nov.
I am right with you
I don't eat 5-6 ounces at t time but the weight loss was about the same.
between months 1-3 I lost 66 lbs!!!
then I lost 10 lbs in aug
10 lbs in sept
and 0 since the end of sept.
I work out. Hell my calves hurt right now so bad from step on monday I may die at work today.
I figure this just has to be a plateau and it has to leave soon...
yesterday in my plateau post some said they weren't sure about protien intake, when they watched they started loosing.
I've been using fit day and every day I get between 65-100 grams of protien. My nutritionalist told me to aim for 75-100 so I am usually very close..
*sigh*
I am ready to cry.
and I am still fluctuating. Yesterday I was 201.4 today I am 200.6 tomorrow I will probably be 201 again..
this is what it has been since sept 26.. except that one morning... I think it was worse seeing that because it was harder to go back up
sorry I highjacked and rambled
but I totally feel you.
*hugs*

You did not hijack my thread. I appreciate ANY response and especially from someone who can understand what I am going through. Now atleast you lost 10 pounds each month. I've probably lost 10 pounds the last two months? I mean it is KILILING ME SOFTLY!
I too am hurting from working out and weight training. I could barely move when I woke up this morrning. Got on the scale, guess what? I've gained 3 pounds since yesterday morning. are you KIDDING ME?! I know I know! Throw the scale away, but I can't. Just like eating it's an addiction. I can't help but wake up, use the restroom and get the scale. I've always done that, even when I was heavier. I need psychological help or something. LOL.
hey guys -
I went 8-9 weeks VERY early on with no weight loss ( and yes it made me a bit crazy!!!) I've now decided that my scale imust be on druggs!!
With nearly 300 pounds total to loose I had to get a grip!!
The numbers did finally start dropping again - now I can go 2-3 weeks and see no loss or a slight gain ( upto 5 pounds) - eventually it b drops again. yes it is frustrating but remember - you can only do what you can do !
Hang in there - keep doing what you are supposed to be doing - remember to take care of you and love you and the rest of life will fall as it will.

Hello, You are not alone and neither am I, Today is the first time I have looked at this web site since surgery. I had RnY April 18, 2006, I get frustrted but am still going down 1 pound a week. I used to weight myself every day at first I started at 268 and now weight 195, my inches are definately going fast when I am on the slow loosing plateau. I get frustrated and I don't drink as much water as I should. I have found that when I wake up in the middle of the night like 3:00 am if I drink cold water I clean my system out better and the weight loss starts up again. I usually do not get out of bed in the middle of the night so I have started keeping a bottle of water on the nightstand so I can just take a couple of ounces of water when I do wake up. I am down from a size 22 jeans to 14 so I know I am moving forward but frustration is a routine I think at this time in our journey, 6 months out, I am at 75 % of my excess weight so I believe I am actually on track. The first two months were as they called them the Honeymoon. I was in the early states of Type II diabetes and I take nothing but I do not bring anything in the house that has sugar in it, I do not have any children around so I guess if I had my grandkids around I might be more at risk of eating sweets. I walk 2 times a week at lunch time and it makes a big difference, so hang in there you are not alone, and we will be down to the size we want to be, at times I am a little concerned that I may not stop loosing when I hit my goal. Try the water before bed and in the middle of the night and see what a difference it makes. Nan
