Julia, It looks great. Congratulations on the loss and keep up the good work. I updated my picture also, and I need to improve it. I also updated my picture trail account and added some of the pictures in the new format. I'm working on the profile. Now, I'm getting cold so it must be time for bed. Jeanne

Jeanne, We had surgery the same day and we are the same age--57 at surgery. I had a lot more to lose than you did but seems we are both doing well. I have only 6.5 pounds to go to 100 pounds lost! Julia

Yes, I remember that we had surgery on the same day. My loss has slowed way down inspite of doing water aerobics 2-3 times a week, and swimming laps. I have 6 lbs to be in onderland and it just doesn't want to come off. I have lost more than 60 inches in my body measurements. Jeanne

My loss has slowed some too. I still have an average of 3.4 pounds per week. I haven't been able to exercise the past two weeks because of a bad knee. Had it injected with Cortisone and will probably have to have another round of synvisc injections. My knee was doing well but then my surgeon suggested I increase the time and intensity of my workout at Curves and when I did, my knee complained!! You'd think it would be happy to be carrying around 93.5 pounds less than 6 months ago!! Julia

I see we have lots in common. My knee has been complaining all summer. You'd think that losing 70 lbs, and taking off 280 lbs of pressure on the knee would help. I ended up in the ER one night in June because of pain in my knee like nothing I've ever experienced. My surgery didn't hurt like this pain. I went so far as to make an appointment with someone who could replace it. Both of the other orthopods I've seen don't do joint replacement surgery. He offered me a cortizone shot then and/or synvisic. But then said my knee was so bad he didn't think that synvisic would help. I didn't take anything at the time, it wasn't hurting. A month later after a week of using a cane and not being able to walk in my job, I was back asking for a cortizone injection (my first). Again he said that he didn't think synvisic would help. The cortisone is helping. I've been able to do water aerobics 3 times a week. Do you find the synsvic works? My PCP said that he would give them to me. Jeanne

Yes the synvisc did help my knee. I had the series a year ago in September and my knee was doing better until I tried to increase my routine at Curves and it objected. I think I will have the injections again as the cortisone has helped some but not as much as I would like and my doctor says it will wear off in 4 to 6 weeks. I know I have to exercise so must get the knee working as good as I can. My ortho M.D. said riding a bike or exercise bike was easy on the knees as was swimming. I cannot see myself at the Y in a swimsuit just yet and don't think their hours will work well with my work. I had a recumbent exercise bike and did not use it much, so loaned it to my son and daughter-in-law. I don't think they are using it much so may get it back. I may eventually have to have my knee replaced too, but hope to wait a few years. I hope you knee gets better--it is no fun. Julia
