I am not sure if I will be the odd ball or oif the majority of us have not tried these foods yet. I am thinking that I would like to try some spaghetti one of these days, maybe 1/4 cup full to start with (incsae of it expanding in the pouch) and maybe 1/4 of a grilled cheese sandwich. I just bought some cheerios and I am nervous but I think I shall try it tomorrow. I had trouble with milk after surgery so I never had it again...but I am ready to try again! If you eat pasta, what kind? What kind of bread? What brand of cereal? Thanks so much Amy

I eat cereal a few times a week. I usually eat a high fiber cereal like bran flakes or Kashi. I stay away from milk so instead I mix the cereal with low carb/sugar free yogurt. It tastes yummy! I pretty much stay away from pasta, although I have had noodles a time or two since surgery. I didnt have any problem with them, but they are so high carb that I try to avoid them. I do eat bread occassionally too. Normally I eat a slice of flax bread which is low carb (10) and has 6g of protein. The flaxseed also helps in other depts. Bread fills me up very, very fast so I try not to eat it often, just on occassion. Amity

I haven't tried cold ceral yet and probably won't I was always a Coco Puffs fan so if I can't have them I don't want anything. I do eat the weight control oatmeal but I can't eat the whole packet so I have given up on that too. I have tried bread and pasta and both sit in my pouch like a lead balloon and make me feel yucky so again I stay away from them too. I have heard that the whole wheat angel hair is the best pasta to try though because it is wheat and the noodles are thin and aren't as heavy as other pastas. Good Luck Deanna

I have had bread occasionally for 1/2 sandwich but toasted really well. Sometimes I eat Special K high protein cereal and mix it with yogurt (yum) or eat the pasta serving in a lean cuisine or smart one - it's usually in a low fat sauce and not dry. I just made a beef enchilada recipe using corn tortillas in the crock pot that was really good. Let us know how it goes Denise

Amy, I've had 1/2 sandwiches a couple of times and had no trouble - I also have had a SUBWAY sandwich with my hubby - have them cut the 6" bun down to anbout 4 ". slice a bit off he top and bottom and throw the center away - works pretty good & tasts pretty good and was a way to eat away from home that was not Wendy's chili. - Made Hubby pretty happy to have another choice away from home. Mr Doc does push protrin first but does not push "no carb" - I probably have a serving of bread, cerial, or pasta just about every day. I will have a few Triscuits or soda crackers or I buy the Honey-nut cheerios and take the whole box, scoop out 1 cup at a time into individual baggies and just eat it dry as I drive to work- that is usually my first meal of the day. I really miss noodles/pasta and am just starting to revise some old recepies to boost the protein and lower the pasta - I figure one meal every 10 days to 2 weeks will give my brain the idea that I'm not saying NEVER to the pasta. I try to NOT have leftovers so I'm not tempted to eat the pasta a couple days in a row. I suppose I might loose faster if I did no pasta/bread but I have 300 pounds to loose ( 100 down - 200 to go) and decided that I have to do something I can live with long term as I learn to eat a new way. I am also learning just a small helping is enough to stisfy me. I have not had any issues with not being able to tolerate these - I just fill up pretty quickly so need to have a very protein rich dish to get the nutrition I need from them

Amy. I am like you. I haven't tried any of these things. My surgery date ws 4/12/06. I try to get as much protein in as possible and would also like a grilled cheese, but I want to stay away from the bread as long as possible. It was one of myh past friends who were trying to kill me, along with sugar and wine!

I eat alot of things. I eat Kashi cold cereal and Uncle Sam. I add ground Flaxseed to the Ka****ho. I do not eat bread at all. It doesn't seem to like me anymore, and I really don't miss it. I eat crackers instead, with my chicken or tuna salad. I don't do much pasta, although I do eat a little if its in something like a soup, but I try to eat around it as much as possible. I don't think the carbs are good for me. Cindee

Kashi go lean or Kashi go lean crunch. Both are yummy. Put a few fresh blueberries on it and super yum! I will occasionally eat a 1/2 sandwich, I usually toast the bread, and end up peeling the outside edges off (I stick with whole wheat). I will sometimes eat a few saltine crackers w/cheese for a snack, or have a couple of crackers with soup. Spaghetti doesn't sit well....I've tried the whole wheat pasta, and you definately have to cook it longer...but I don't like the taste of it. SO when I make spaghetti, I make the sauce extra meaty, and just eat the sauce with a tiny bit of pasta. I have made lasagna, I just don't eat very much of the noodle...I stick with the filling
