Kinda Down Guys
Getting rid of those negative thoughts!
I was out for a walk today and totally pumped myself up. I was telling myself - You spent all of this time going to Doctor visits, all of this time dealing with the insurance company, all of this money and for what? So you can start living an awesome life, so you can feel better, so you can make new friends, so you can find a husband - get married and start a family, so you can become someone instead of just being on the sidelines.
Go back and remember all the reasons that brought you to this point - all the bad, all the good. Think of how far you have come - your profile pictures are awesome!
I read your profile and completely understand when you wrote about needing to get a life and get out and find friends. I've just been going along also-going to work, going home - repeat. Are there people at work/church/somewhere that you want to get to know better? Most of my people at work are older than I am with families and all that. But the other day I just happened to mention to one of them that I wanted to go to a casino soon and now all of the sudden we have a Saturday planned with maybe 10 people planning on going.
Find out what others are interested in - find out what you are interested in - take classes - try something new - get the attitude that since you've had the surgery nothing in the world can stop you now! You've come too far!
You can do it! This too shall pass!
Vi,
OMIGOSH!!! You are sooooo beautiful!!! Your profile pictures are great! I get down also. I don't know about you, but if you were an emotional eater, chances are you have lost your best freind. The thing that I have learned is that with all of this good feeling stuff, like fitting in jeans you haven't fit into for a while, and all of the wow moments, there is yucky stuff, too. Before, I would soothe myself with the escape of food and a good book, but guess what , that doesn't work anymore. I am having a hard time finding something that was as satisfying as the food was....walking and hiking is pretty close, shopping is greater still, but we have to be careful not to exchange one addiction for another! We are all taking baby steps into the emotional jungle out there and I am glad to see that you are not turning to food. Good job, gorgeous!
Hope today is a better day for you!

Dear Afro Cutey,
When I began at around 360 pounds I didn't have much of a life. Pretty much just going to work and home again. Now 4+ months after surgery, and 95 pounds lighter, I find that I have the energy and motivation to do much more. It takes time and sometimes, I think, your brain is not caught up with your new body. I found that by getting out of my old habits of being a couch potato has helped me. I joined a water areobics class and try to make plans to meet with friends for activities. And, according to my nutritionist, make sure you get enough protein. Lack of protein will slow down the weight loss. YOU CAN DO IT!! Good luck on your journey, I am sure you will succeed!
Hey there Lady, it's time to go back to basics. Even if its just for a couple of days, do it. I did it and finally that dang scale started moving again. I joined fitday and decided I had to have the paid version. So I ordered the cd. I record Denise Austin's workouts everymorning. I use my treadclimber and did a little bit with the weights. I got bored with my 5 lbs and bought 8 lbs. I order Chicometrics for when I get tired of Denise. And I also bought Jillian Michael's The Biggest Winner. I can't do much of it, but is't something. Between all of that and walking, I am getting in some working out. Also, I use my fitday and it really helps. I use every section not just the food log. To date, I have lost 79lbs and my surgery was April 13th. I'm down to 182, I can't wait to see the 170's. Let me know how things go for you.
Hey, you really are an Afro Cutey!
Don't let a stall get you down. It happens to all of us. There's no way you're going to stop at 4mo postop. I was in your boat, depressed because I wasn't losing, then 4lbs came off in ONE DAY.
The way I look at it, I can get up and whenever I want to now, even if not one more lb came off, I'd be happy. But I know there're better things in store, so should YOU.
Stick to your basics: water, protein, vitamins, exercise. You'll do it. I have faith!
